I saw that other announcement, Malabarista. They invited the rest of us to try submitting our own artwork. Sadly, I'm no Michelangelo....

I am suitably chastened now. Forget I ever brought the subject up. The only smiley I ever agitated for was the one. So, from now on I promise to use it whenever I can.

That's a relief, Paul!

You see, underused smileys start to...fade. They take on a tragic, Gollum-esque existence, a shade of their former selves. Like Dorian Gray's painting, they become truly grotesque and monstrous, while allowing their more popular counterparts to look as fresh as the day they were unveiled. It's not a fate to wish upon anyone, even poor little souls who are only 16 pixels tall.

Also useful for those occasions when your toilet backs up.

£12 for me. Which isn't a lot more than you'd pay for one of similar size and quality in Waterstones or somewhere like that.

If I remember rightly they print them to order either in the UK or US, depending which they reckon you're closer to. Which is perhaps why it's not cheap for NZ.

yes, delivery can be eye-watering but still, a good cause, eh?
