h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Please welcome Milla as the head of the h2g2 Operations Team. Milla will be taking over the leadership of the h2g2 Operations Team from its founder, Mrs Zen. We are sorry to lose Mrs Zen from her role as a Senior Volunteer, and we thank her for the enormous amount of effort she sustained in the  preliminary months leading up to the purchase of h2g2 from the BBC, and in the time since then.

Milla began working with the h2g2 Operations Team since late 2011. Her RL experience in software development came in handy as she organized a feature and bug tracking system for Pliny and Ripley. She has been working closely with the Tech Team and liaising with the other teams in documenting  processes, technical specifications, and feature requests.

Congratulations, Milla!

Congratulations Milla - I am so very happy you felt able to take this role on. You'll be a great asset.


Also - thanks to Mrs Zen, for the sterling work that was the mainstay behind all of this. We'd not be here without you and all the effort you put into saving the site.

Hey, I ate'nt dead! I have merely, in the best tradition of the Guide, gone to lunch. Nom nom nom.

I'm really pleased that Milla is taking this on; the volunteers are an amazing bunch of people but there is no-one among them who could do this as well as she will.  She'll be far better than I was because she is more patient, kinder and all-together nicer than me! All that, and a mind like a steel trap.

Last year's journey was an amazing time, a real roller-coaster from the anouncement in January 2011 through to winning the bid and on to the meet in Manchester in February this year, and I still get all weepy thinking about it. I learned more about myself and what I can and can't do than in any other year of my life. It was exciting working so closely with the Interim Committee on the shared goal of saving the site, working with Aly and Brian was a delight and I still miss them, and every discussion with Robbie was like being in a management masterclass.

So the very best of luck Milla as you get the turning again. And a spare in case you need one!
