h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

H2G2 will have its twentieth anniversary in less than a year. Is there any plan to celebrate this fact? How many people here were here on day one? In Year One? Come to that, how many people are here? There are surely relatively few Web 2.0 (remember that?) communities still extant.

I wasn't here on Day One, but Week 5½ isn't too bad.

I arrived here before 9-11. Of course, I sleep late every morning, so if I had been Cinderella, I'd be that coach would be a pumpkin again before it even got to the palace.

I arrived here in the midst of the great masses of new researchers on 9.9.1999, the most sign ups of any day before or since.

I've been here since 11th May 1999 and while, these days, I don't contribute much I lurk most days and would be lost without the place.

When my mum died just lurking kept me (almost) together - it's like a quiet bolt hole to retreat to ....

I'm just a kid, I only learned that such a site existed in 2004. A friend recommended reading "Last Chance".

I liked "Last chance" a lot.

I have been a regular visitor since 2002-2003ish, after reading about the site in Salmon of doubt. I only managed to sign up last year, after several failed attempts (can I still blame 2Legs for that?). So that's either 1 or 15 years for me.

Now I am not entirely sure - - - Last Chance To See? Or the Salmon of Doubt? I read both around early 2004 . . . It matters not.
