People,in general, are extremely strange with fetishis like penguins, or digital watches, or anything from the eighties, so WHY ARE PEOPLE SO STRANGE?

Although, I have to admit that I love the name Deryn and if I ever have a daughter that is what I would name her,
Proof that even the most rational agnostics can have strange attributes.

Your reference to Abcd put me in mind of a very clever book
I've recently enjoyed called "Ella Minnow Pee". No kidding. It's
a hoot about bureaucracy gone mad and laws passed demanding
the deletion of certain letters from the alphabet on penalty of exile.

Why are people strange? The biggest motivation, in my opinion, is a fear of getting overlooked in an increasingly crowded world. if you're decidedly different, you'll stand out from everyone else and be noticed.

Another reason is an accident of migration. You may have fit in perfectly with everyone else in the country you came from, but when you're transplanted, you'll seem strange compared with the people in your new country.

Whatever happened to Strangely Strange? One of the best screen names ever.

Its funny because not many of my friends know that song because we are all either 14 or 15, but I was raised on rock like acdc and queensryche!
People are strange, especially when they listen to modern music that's all about rape and violence and think that it is cultural or sophisticated, when they are missing out on good stuff like the doors!

I ha be to say that British/English people are the most strange of all that I've met, but they are hilarious, and when I turn 19, I am making a pilgramidge (non religious) over there (if I have any money at all) to see the country and some relatives.

If anyone can get their hands on a copy of the tri-city's Sunday papers, you might get a kick out of my grandfather's letters to the editor, varying from pets to homophobia, a tottaly irrational fear/hatred that I believe is extremely stupid ( on of my grandfather's best articles was poking and riling up homophobes :s), all of the article are sarcastic and pretty funny.

To be fair, some modern music is good, and some old bands do have bad songs, like when queensryche did Scarborough Fair.I am a band geek and was dissapounted when a song for trumpet and my instrument, clarinet, was played with guitar, bass, drums, and good but overdone vocals. It was suprisingly popular, so either that is one of my strangenesses, or lots of people are strange, both extremely likely =/

Now, back on topic!
The worst case of strange (in a bad way, it is actually fun to be regular strange) was an overweight, obnoxious, spoiled kid who made his parents change his name to James Bond! Why!?!? He is rude, and seems to think that your mom jokes were ever funny (they were never good, EVAR!).

People are strange because the human race evolved this amazing thinking apparatus called the brain, and most of us are now in positions where we don't really need it, but the brain has to be kept busy, so we fill it up with fantasy, or obsessing about things such as collecting coins or Pokemon cards, or studying history or science or Religion.

Some of this strangeness ends up producing new, good stuff, but most of it is just strange.

One persons strange, is another persons normal, and as no two 'normals' are the same, rarely are two 'strange's' the same eider

People's ideas about what's normal tend to change over time. When you first move to a new neighborhood, you may think everything is strange, but after living there for a decade or two, it tends to seem normal. Then, when you return to your old neighborhood [especially if you left it when you were a kid], everything seems smaller, and the people you used to know have unaccountably turned into old people .

There is nowt stranger than putting butter on scones...
