Not to spoiler it for anyone, but why are they now totally ignoring things like the existence or lack of an atmosphere? And anyway, it's "LIE down", not "LAY down", dangit!

No Mal, it isn't getting worse.
As the sets get less wobbly and the cossies and make-up better, we are becoming more critical.
I can remember when The Cybermen wore cricket batting gloves sprayed silver.
I do wish Who would stop getting The Hots for his Companion though.

Its due to the cut backs, they liken to many other institutions, think they are beyond approach.
They’ll make changes and be smug enough to think we don’t pick it up, or if we do, tough
Best thing to do, turn it off, go for a nice walk down to the local and enjoy a , but be warned, they’ve reduced the alcohol content and hiked up the price and they did this thinking you would not notice

Hmm.. yes, no atmosphere in space is there.
And gravity seems to be a variable of convenience.
They seem to be on a motorcycle/scooter kick too.
The make-up and costumes budget must be staggering
and it's cutting into continuity editing time, but that's a
TV-professional observation and not really suitable as a
genuine fan response.
Lot less running though. More fancy-dancing footwork
and lotsa spinning about in a campy way.

I rememberOxy-gum, that stuff that Marine boy used to use to breathe under water, maybe the Doctors got some that he’s using, any sign of him chewing between lines.

If I remember rightly, the T.A.R.D.I.S. creates it's own atmosphere and gravity around itself, as has been seen on previous episodes, so the Dr. etc can stand outside and not be affected. This has been demonstrated when the door has been opened in space and all have survived.
Also, the Dr. only has one more regeneration, as far as I can count, if all regenerations are taken into account. Maybe the last regeneration will need to procreate to enable the Dr. to have many more regenerations, but will mature overnight, hence the angle.
A D.N.A. defensive strategy!
Just a
Please discuss...

Oh I think we all 'accept' that the TARDIS
can create its own atmosphere and he is prone
to flying around with the doors open...
but in the last episode - which I think must have
inspired the OP - we saw the Doctor rocketing
across space, from one asteroid sized planetoid
to another on a rented 'scooter'. No helmet either!

It's all make belief. It's based on the supposition of time and relative dimension in space which was proven to be hogwash by Stephen Hawkings back in the seventies . Also what with onset privatisation of the police force and the 17 year old police commissioner (http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/22061553), the tardis, which is a police public telephone box, has been found to be not fit for purpose and has been sold to China as part of the new efficiency drive from the Home Secretary Theresa May.

Since it was revived there have been; three Doctors, seven regular companions, a number of occasional or one-time and two returning (counting K-9) companions and one asexual act of Time Lord procreation.
The Doctor hasn't exactly "had the hots" ie lusted for for anyone.
With the possible exception of Sophia Myles, which in terms of how it was written; acted;, the established "otherness" of the Doctor, and in terms of my other tastes seemed entirely plausible. Although the Doctor as with the clockwork adversaries was mostly interested in her brain.
This was in keeping with the established otherness of the Doctor. The Matt Smith Doctor is the most otherly Doctor since the relaunch. His interest interest in Clara Oswald though first formed by her impressive mind shown in previous incarnations does seem to have been dramatised quite explicitly in her "impossibleness" rather than anything as mundane or human as her lips, for example.
Matt Smith's Doctor seems positively priggish about human sexuality, even in regard of humans with a bit of the Time Lord about them such as River Song.
There was the tedious, melodramatic and suspension of disbelief breaking "pangs" for Billie Piper's annoying character... Rose. It seemed quite a popular move at the time.
Frankly best forgotten. Let us never speak of it again.
The actresses and some of the actors the Doctor has had as companions or that have taken his curiosity have been much sexier than is strictly necessary for kids TV. But, it is not kids TV it is general viewing and little girls and teenage boys and geeks of all ages and sexualities are fond of a pretty face.
The writers have yet to do anything so awful as have Spock kiss Uhura.
Any ways it was never established than the asteroid belt in the most recent episode did not have some kind of atmosphere protecting electromagnetic shield; so it probably did, how else would Clara have been able to breathe?

The last one did really seem like an Atheist sing-a-long episode

The worst of it really was the 'face' on the big red blobby
supernova thingy. Big blobby things that try to have faces
are inevitably just big blobby things trying to have faces.
There was The Blob, The Thing, The Other Thing, Blob 2,
and who can forget Mister Puke or the angry Id on the
Forbidden Planet.
The big black blobby thing that ate whatsername (the sexy girly
head of security) on year one of STNG kept rearing up outa his
oily pool and trying to make mean smirky evil faces. The big red
balloony thing on this recent episode of the Dr Who was at best
from the jack-o-lantern school of blow fish. He kept inhaling and
expanding or exhaling and deflating and changing shades from red
to yellow and orange like he couldn't decide whether to blow hot
or cold.
The best characters were the 'costume and make-up' extras in the
crowd scenes. You could just tell they all had a back-story which
we'd never get to hear.

"The last one did really seem like an Atheist sing-a-long episode"
Didn't it just? I find that the crux of any Atheist sing-a-long is when we all gather round to sing to a god.
Doctor Who's not getting worse. It's the same as it's always been. Some bits are great, some not so great. I didn't really enjoy the last episode, but it wasn't as bad as the two with James Corden in, the one with Peter Kay in, or any of the ones with Sylvester McCoy in.

It's not just the scooter between two asteroids bit that makes me wonder whether it was meant to have an atmosphere, but the fact that they could hear the singing (and explosions) over there. But if that's the case, shouldn't the asteroids be on fire?
