And once more, some answers:

The Pelican Brief Encounter.

Land of the Lost in Translation.

National Lampoon's Animal House of Wax. (Another one I'd definitely watch).

Men In Black Narcissus.

Shaun of the Dead Poet's Society.

A Hard Day's Night of the Hunter.

In a parody of the TV show, a tea-drinking earthman and his thumb-wielding friend defend a group of aliens against an alien warlord. It gets very confusing when Sam Rockwell keeps popping up as different people.

"In Swinging Sixties London, the Beatles know where the proceeds of the robbery are. Can they get away from Robert Mitchum before he slits their throats?"

Not many people are likely to know the vast number of movies that are referenced in these teasers. The Beatles movie is either "Help" or "A Hard Day's Night," but that doesn't help given that I don't think I've seen Robert Mitchum in much of anything. Plus, the number of posts between the clue and the answer is sometimes quite long, which means going back and forth and back and forth. smiley - online2long

I would rather give a title and let people imagine a surreal plot to go with it. Would anybody like to try it that way? After all, I thought that's what we were initially going to be doing.

Let's imagine a plot for "Iron Lady sings the blues."

Eek! It's bad enough that we have to see her picture on the side of buses.

Yes, but can you imagine her trying to start a career as a blues singer? smiley - winkeye

"don't think I've seen Robert Mitchum in much of anything"

You need to see "Night of the Hunter", if you never see anything else with him in it.

The OP suggested we try both ways. Personally I quite like giving the plot and letting people guess, although I agree it's been quite dizzy-making with Hoo's quick-fire session!

I think there's room for both ways.

My last (post 64) was, fairly obviously I thought, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Quest.

And my next offering:

Psychotic terrorist Nick Cage pretends to be Paris model Audrey Hepburn in this lighthearted comedy action drama. However, he hadn't reckoned on Fred Astaire trying to dance with him. Or is it John Travolta?

I really LIKE it when you can do that. It worked nicely with The Great Escape From New York, with Donald Pleasance being in both.

Epic comedy crime drama: Al Pacino is a mafia don who tries to sue the church because his insurance policy will not pay out on "acts of God". Meanwhile, he tries to come to terms with the impending marriage of his daughter, who comes into conflict with her best friend because their weddings are scheduled on the same day.
