The person the UN 'might' appoint is denying it's going to happen.
And the UN continues to engage in typical bureaucratic muddling.
So when the aliens say 'Take me to your leader' we'll say
'Oh we have no leader. Perhaps you want to speak with our
recalcitrant Malaysian astrophysicist? On an unofficial basis
naturally.'

Although Hugh Fernley Wittingstall was my choice..I'm now sorely tempted to go for Chris Packham instead - one of the presenters of Autumnwatch.
He's incredibly intelligent, brilliantly funny, warm, sociable ie he kind of 'jams' off his fellow presenters. He makes learning about nature such a real pleasure whatever your knowledge level because of his lovely enthusiasm.
I think he would be an excellent person to act as ambasador because he would present the whole case for nature on earth..and the aliens couldn't fail but be charmed by him and learn about human humour.
