Hasn't changed my opinion because I don't know what the wiki-leaks are.

No, the leaks only confirmed what most suspected was going on. The true(er) picture of how many civilians get killed by NATO is horrifying, but it doesn't change the fact we should be there until the Taliban (far and away the biggest killer of civilians) are no longer a threat.

This is one of those rare occassions where HI and I fully agree on something Be under no illusion, when NATO and British troops pull out of Afghanistan the retribution on those deemed to have colluded (even remotely) with the Nato forces, will be dealt in the traditional Taliban fashion. We are not talking a swift coup de grace, but a protracted and brutal hacking at the neck with a knife, the victim being hogtied, till the head is detached as part of a public spectacle. The slaughter will be unpresidented. That is what you are condoning when the Nato forces withdraw.

Even better we should listen to the drugs experts and legalise all drugs and stop wasting our time fighting the 'war on drugs'.Another wasteful war that we are losing and can never win..
There is an interesting article about this in next weeks issue of the Radio Times by the former government chief advisor on Drugs Dr Professor David Nutt

I missed post 188 first time around. Assuming it must have been tongue in cheek.
I think the government estimate that in the region of 8-10 million people in the UK admit to having smoked cannabis in the last year. Hard slog introducing a death penalty for all that lot....

execute all the druggies, scrap the probation service and comunity service punishment, everyone can then do their full sentance

What all 10 million of those who admit* it?

*Surely meaning in reality the figure is a bit higher. In my generation i'd say people who have not experimented with drugs are in the minority.
P.S. You would be executing a fair few hootooizens in all ah reckon.

Not that British forces in Afghanistan have been all that effective against the Taliban but I do think we should brnig them back as reading some of the posts on this page promotng the death penalty for minor offences then we need them hear as Taliban style ideas are taking hold here!
Atleast give us druggies a chance send us to Afghanistan, pay us in weed and give us guns. The "Loaded" generation would soon kick the arse of any group who are pledged to the complete supression of strip clubs, TV and decadent western music.
See that's the major problem with the conservative establishment, you're about as friendly as the Taliban and every bit unwilling to accept other trains of thought. Us druggies who have beaten our brains with liquor and drugs, late nights and hynotising chickens still get out of our stinking pits and run rings around you.
How many billions have been spent trying to supress our lifestyle and yet turn on your TV and there is our culture in just about every music video you see (except Taylor Swift but she's rubbish "Beyonce made one of the best videos of all time").
In this whole situation the only people I feel sorry for are the troops and the Afghan civillians caught betwseen two sets of ultra conservative theists intent on forcing their ideology and culture on everyone else.

I'm sure many would love to, but what about the ones that would bemoan it as an abuse of their human rights?

Anyone following the debate about the TIME magazine cover of the Afghani woman whose face was mutilated by the Taliban because she left her abusive marriage?
>>
The debate was fueled in part by the language that Time chose to accompany the photograph: “What Happens if We Leave Afghanistan,” pointedly without a question mark.
“That is exactly what will happen,” said Manizha Naderi, referring to Aisha and cases like hers. An Afghan-American whose group, Women for Afghan Women, runs the shelter where Aisha stayed, Ms. Naderi said, “People need to see this and know what the cost will be to abandon this country.”
