We are getting a new hamster around my sons birthday. We've been trying to think of what to call it. My suggestions are Dangerous Beans, Plastic Vicar or Special Patrol Group son is not impressed...any other ideas?

Avoid "Hammy" for definate! That's like calling a black and white cat "Jess". No imagination.
First thing that popped into my head was Richard Hammond.

And what is wrong with Hammy?
Predictable true, but kind of nice sounding.
Mind you I had a male white rat called Pretty as when we went to buy him someone said he was pretty, a lovely rat he was too and I was in floods of tears when he was put down, and yes I was an adult!

Hammond.
Neil or Chris after The Pet Shop Boys. Er, but then again perhaps not.

I tend to work with colouring and personality... We had a pair of champagne hooded rats called Ginger and Gipsy. Gypsy was always on the move! The brown rat we had was called Bubbles because she was so bubbly. (her sister was called Bella)...
My friend had a hamster called Chunk and another named hers after her favourite band.
In all fairness, the hamster wont mind, so something amusing or weird could be fun. 'This is my hamster, it's called Bootstrap Bill/String Vest/Fishface...'

Actually, maybe Zaphod could be cruel, especially if it was a mutant hamster with 2 heads. Cruel or perfect.
