It's probably an evil plot by the card companies. Do you happen to know why St. Valentine was incarcerated & executed? Maybe the sick and twisted corporations were trying to get at something...

I don't recall why, but knowing how the Church works I'd assume they wanted him to do something contrary to the Bible. What really weirds me out is that the holiday is named after a Catholic saint, owned by greeting card companies, and symbolized by a Roman deity.

There were two Saint Valentines, neither of which had anything to do with lovers. One of them was a bishop whose holy day is 7th of January, the other was a martyr. Beyond that, I don't know anything about them. The only book I have on saints, 'Butler's Lives of the Saints', is the concise edition, which doesn't mention St. Valentine in detail. It does mention two other saints whose holy day is 14th of February, Sts Cyril and Methodius. So maybe next year we should ask the people in the card shops whether they have any St. Cyril's day cards, or try to get Valentine cards on 7th January!

Mine never gave me a Valentine in 20 years, but he had a great excuse : "I don't need a special day to tell you I love you."

Ugh, sorry for not responding but I was punished(again). Anywho, Greyrose, I think that guy sucks and he should just let you through the damn wall, its pissing me off when guys get like this. I myself am struggling with my feelings for my ex, and don't know quite what to do. Just ignore him. If he likes you, he will realize his loss and do something about it. If not, hes a loser, and should be hung with the rest of them. Heehe. Anymore advice? Now that I cant possibly be punished again?
