They can't go worse than the romance from the 2nd. That was too cheesy even for Lucas.

true,

Id like to have seen Lando in the next one, with an early Falcon

But sure why not, he seems to want to put nearly all the old characters in the new films

You may have heard the quote of Harrison Ford to George Lucas:

"Hey George, you can type this sh*t but you sure can't say it".

Chewie should make an appearance or at least some Wookie input, perhaps his dad! Chewie could be running around the colony in a nappy, that would be more believable than the rasta-underwater-smiley - bunnyrabbit thing.

Have Wookies had a mention at all yet? I slept through most of the first episode after being really excited standing in the queue. The second episode I waited until it was shown on television. Now there is so much to fit into this final (third) episode. Perhaps it will be 3A!smiley - biggrin

the third man(temporary armistice)n strike)

The sad thing is we'll probably all go and see it just to make sure we've completed the cycle ourselves. If the first prequel had bombed maybe Lucas would have had to have been more adventurous and inventive.

One reason, and it's something to face-up to, we are not 10 years old anymore. smiley - doh

Anyway for those new to the series, the re-hash (and I do mean hash) of episode 3, this gave a clue to the next factory batch.

Where is the artistry, the magic of a unique industry saver that was Star Wars. After watching episode 1, 2 and 3 are not on the 'to watch ASAP list.'

Okay, I prefer Star Trek (to be honest, I don't really like Star Wars) but I am also speaking for Maths Wizard, who is >ill> and who wants to say that George Lucas still has the ideas. Ideas from the 1970s, and now the technology exists to do them justice.

Making a Red Dwarf movie here? I have never heard that but I would be excited if it was true!

I am directed to direct y'all to http://www.starwars.com/databank/
once there, go to Appearances and select episode III. Chewie *is* in it, I am told.

Reasons why the next Star Wars film will be crap?

You mean, aside from the fact that the last two were total crap? (imho)

I did love the original trilogy very much. It was steeped in mythology (thanks to George Lucas's friend, the eminent mythologist Joseph Campbell), it had very good actors, it had a good storyline and was a basic well-told tale.

I only saw the first of the new trilogy. It was so bloody awful that I couldn't bring myself to see the second part even though some of it was filmed where I live (in Seville).

My feeling is that when George Lucas lost his friend and mentor (in terms of mythological story-telling) Joseph Campbell, then he lost the whole deal. He lost all the magic. He was left with special effects. Very sad. I had hoped for more.

I thought the ending of the last film was a bit dodgy. We knew that Darth Vader goes on to have 2 children, Luke and Leia, and 'Clones' ends with him getting married. The implication seems to be, 'he might be a planet-destroying mass-murderer, but at least he didn't have sex before marriage.'

Wasn't it Grand Moff Tarkin who destroyed the planet (Tatooine)? smiley - geek

Not that old Darth did much to stop it mind...

Hey look he was a good guy in the end as he threw the *real* bad guy down a big hole. Death bed repentance and all that smiley - winkeye

Getting married dodgy? Well what with the divorce rate these days and the price of weddings... smiley - winkeye

It's not getting married I was complaining about, but the rather dodgy sense of moral perspective.

(Also, the earlier films contained an incest storyline. Aimed at young children, too.)

Aye that they did.

Red Dwarf I heard about 8 months ago. Apparently there is some info on www.imdb.com (look up red dwarf) but I haven't heard anything since then and not checked myself.

Ok now for my rant against star wars. First of all though, I loved the first 3 (ep 4-6) with Empire Strikes back as my favourite. I loved the books (except those by Kevin J Anderson) especially those by Timothy Zhan. However Episode 1 and 2 had a few deep flaws but some things I enjoyed.

Storyline - crap, non-exsistant and very very dull. I enjoyed episode 1 on video more by watching the first 15 mins and the last 30 - much better film. And though most of it was special effects it was how light saber battles should be.

Special Effects - Jar Jar Binks sums it up completly. If they put Jar Jar in the 3rd film please please let it be to disintergrate the annoying made for merchandise sales twerp. It didn't work with Ewoks and it won't work with comp generated versions of them either.

Darth Maul - Why kill off the most memorable original bad guy of the ep 1?

Darth Tyranus - Christopher, respeceted actor, probably got paid a fair wack for the job but he looked as if his bones were cracking when he swung the light saber. Also I thought that once Qui-gon jinn was out of the picture the light saber battle from episode 1 picked up fantastic pace as the actors were capable of the action.

Darth Tyranus vs. Yoda - I sat there watching that thinking do I laugh, is it meant to be comical or just how I saw it.

Ind Light and Magic - For a company that pioneered special effects where did they go wrong. There special effects look excatly that. Too fake, too computer generated. Lord of the Rings I enjoyed for most of the effects looked as if they were there on film not added 18 months later in a comp lab. (Except for the Balrog but hey no ones perfect). Since Episode 1 ILM look as if they are producing effects for disney and got stuck in that frame of mind.

Good points

Music - I can't fault I think the film blended seemlessly with the action / "drama" / film and made me enjoy more than I would have. I actully downloaded Dual of the Fates as I liked the tune that much. (Though the re-mix is great).

C3-P0 - still as comical as ever, though please a little less tounge in cheek about never ever references to what we know is going to happen in the "future" films.

Senator Palpatine - The fact they brought Ian Mcdairmond back without the make-up to play the Emperors early days is brilliant. He plays the subtle bad guy and outright nasty bad guy so well. His playing of the nice and friendly old man figure chancellor while setting up the bid for power as Darth Sidius was cool.

Ewan Mcgregor - for actully having the balls to take on the role of Kenobi.

There is questions I do have though. Where does the name Old Ben come from? How come cosmecetically the ships look so much better and stunning in the past (apart frm ep 2)? How come ships with defensive shields be capable of taking a same number of hits as those without unless piloted by one of the starring cast?

Also in Empire - Obi-wan states that Yoda trained him as a Jedi Knight. No mention of Qui-gon. hmmm Continuinty error.

Well that is my piece - enjoy

C3PO - smiley - grr the character I loathe the most! Jar jar Binks is cute, and quite bearable by comparison.
