Doctor Who, the original Delia Derbyshire arrangement.
The Hitch-hiker's theme is good, I have the original Eagles track on CD. Whenever I hear it I expect a BBC announcer to come on.
Strictly speaking it isn't a theme tune, but the Harlech startup music is good. For those who lived in the HTV area and watched TV about 9.25AM before the days of breakfast TV you can listen to it again at the Harlech House of Graphics, http://www.itw.org.uk/.

I have the hitch hiker's theme as the ringtone on my mobile too! Red Dwarf and Balckadder are both good. And from children's TV, The Family Ness!!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
