Saturnine

How about the WHOLE of Lost Highway? Has to be one of the best soundtracks in existence...

smiley - sorry Overdoes it a bit, but there isn't one specific musical moment in the film that overrides the others...

"Always Look On the Bright Side of Life", which needs no further description.

And honorable mention to "Anger Management" and its wonderful rendition of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, "I Feel Pretty."

Aaaw, I wanted to say that Magnolia scene smiley - smiley

Hmm, not so much _in_ a film, but Exit Music over the credits of that strangely gaudy Romeo+Juliet deserves a mention.

Sticking with Monty Python, the use of a song about the enormous size of the universe to persuade a recently widowed woman (played by Terry Jones) to donate her liver in 'The Meaning Of life'.

Moulin Rouge.

Was that script just written round some songs?

Well, it was a love story, so they could pretty much pick whatever love songs they wanted to include.

Anyway, I would say for best movie/song moment: "Where Is My Mind" at the end of Fight Club.

Or possibly "What a Difference a Day Made" in Run Lola Run.

Or most of the songs in Lost in Translation. Wonderful movie, great soundtrack.

Bela Lugosi's Dead (Bauhaus) at the beginning of The Hunger (crap film, great atmospheric intro)

More Monty Python - Every Sperm is Sacred is a classic.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood's 'Two Tribes' when Robbie Coltrane walks out on the causeway with a chainsaw in a double-bass case with the waves crashing around him in the Comic Strip's 'Supergrass'

When I was a teen, that was the coolest thing I think I ever saw ...

I have to agree with Saturnine about Lost Highway, best use of music of any film. I guess the next best after that would probably be something from Tarantino, from Pulp Fiction probably. Nothing specific jumps to mind though.

Sierra Indigo - now Cheesecakethulhu flavoured

The "Quicksilver" scene from Tank Girl, where Rebecca forces The Madame to start singing "Let's Do It" by Cole Porter, and it turns into a whole musical number. There's no reason for it, it's completely gratuitous and there's a lot of unnecessary nipple tassels (And Naomi Watts in clear plastic pants smiley - drool) but it's funny as all hell.

"Just the two of us" and "hard knock life" in Austin Powers two and three I nearly wet myself.

Another Baz Lurhman film to go with Moulin Rouge, "Talkshow host" in Romeo and Juliet. The man knows how to pick a good song to go with a scene.

Another vote for Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, Des'ree's song, Kissing You sung over Mozart's 33rd violin concerto. To me this music *is* love at first sight, I just know it'll be playing in my head when I fall for someone like that.

I absoloutly love the song from Platoon. I think it's called Adagio for strings, and it fits the film perfectly.

Northern Boy (lost somewhere in the great rhubarb triangle) <master of Freudian typos> Man or Badger?

going back to the start of this thread i have to definitely suggest "Mad world" from the end of Donnie Darko such a wonderfully sad lilting tune after the events of the film it seems such a beautiful fit.

A Super Furry Animal

"I'd Like That" by XTC at the beginning of Me, Myself & Irene. Perfect matching of music to mood, IMHO.
