Would a tree be inanimate? If so I would be a Douglas Fir on the edge of the ocean, windswept towards the land with an eagle's nest on top like a hat.

Well the post is *not living* but I don't know if that is the same as inanimate really. I suppose you could argue that everything has *life* in some sort of form.
