h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Who do you think has got a beautiful voice? If I had to pick a famous person it would be actor Michael Kitchen - that bloke who's in the WWII drama on Sunday nights. He's got a gorgeous voice - I don't know what it is - it's sort of quiet and clear, and his delivery of words is just magical.

Oh and Sean Bean and John Thaw would have to be on my list too.

I don't think it actually counts as attractive - but Andrew Sachs - the poor little Spanish Waiter in Fawlty Towers has got to have one of the most surprising voices... after growing up watching him speak broken English with a very dodgy spanish accent I was amazed the first time I heard him narrating a BBC documentary - in perfect RP - BBC english .

I know exactly what you mean - it's not over-pronunciated or precious. Lovely

I think Kat in Eastenders - now there's an attractive voice

James Earl Jones

He may look like an African-American Father Christmas, but his voice is pure black treacle - you could pour it on ice cream!

I have to say I've been wracking my brains to come up with a decent anwser for a famous female sexy voice but I can't think of one

Joanna Lumley possibly but it's a bit too posh for my personal tastes.

I've always had a thing about men with rich, deep voices. Most of my favourites are British, James Earl Jones being the one notable exception. (I'd describe his voice as dark brown velvet, though.) Other than that, Richard Burton, James Mason, Patrick Stewart, Brian Blessed, Derek Jacobi and Antony Hopkins all spring instantly to mind.

How about the most annoying voice in the world - Sandra Dickinson

One that I find is widely debated is Mariella Frostrup, she treads a fine line between husky-gorgeousness and throat-cancer croakiness.

Lisa I'Anson formerly from Radio 1 narrates a lot of stuff on TV and does adverts and has a lovely voice too.

How about Dawn French? She always sounds very cheery

The only attractive female voice I can think of is Jennifer Lien who played Kes in Star Trek: Voyager. She has a deep voice for a small woman.

I've always found Zoe formerly Ball's voice strangely attractive ...

I dont know who she is, but on a Deftones song (MX) there is a female voice asking the questions which are answered by Chino:

My god that voice drives me crazy.

Talking of sexy singer-voices, there's Jill Scott and the little known Pariss Clemons who sings Black Mary on Giles Peterson's - Worldwide 1 and has a stunningly sweet voice.

She doesnt sing, just provides the spoken questions.

Has to be Alan Rickman as Snape in HP1 (I hope I've got the right name there). His "brew glory, bottle fame and put a stopper in death" bit………. What a voice!

I quite liked the hair as well.

Another one I like it the Scottish chap who played Cyrano de' Bergerac (sp) in the Radio 4 production a couple of years back. Full of emotion and really alive!

No, Mariella Frostrup definitely sounds like she's on 40 Hamlet a day (to quote a random comedian from about 10 years ago. I prefer a nice smooth female voice with a little deepness to it.

Moira Stewart has a very nice voice for example
