Definitely ones you bought yourself with your own money, otherwise you might try and weasel out of taking resposibility for your choices!

Hmmm, album. It was this summer compilation, bought it along with my stereo.
I've always felt singles cost too much. So it was pretty late, I think it was Janet jackson with Together Again or so.

I think the single was a song called Pop Music, but I can't remember the name of the band, and try searching for "pop music" on Google...
First album I think was Dire Straits, Love Over Gold.
There may have been some kiddy stuff earlier on, but these are the ones I can remember, anyway.

Single: I didn't buy many singles since I wasn't really aware that some singles contained B-Sides. I think the first one I bought was Smashing Pumpkins 'Zero' or Groove Collective's 'I Want You (She's So Heavy).'
Album: First cassette Limahl 'Don't Suppose,' First LP 'Introducing...the Beatles,' First CD some Louis Armstrong compilation.

The first CD I bought was REM's 'Out of Time', which is a damn good album and is pretty cool and nothing to be embarrassed about.
...however, the first album I ever bought was on tape. I can't remember the title of the album, but it was the Jive Bunny one. Erk.
