This *is* a wonderful thread!
My favourite thing?
Pennsylvania of course! (C119)
From mountain wilderness to big cities to small towns, from sophisticates to hill-billys - Pennsylvania is a microcosm of the US in so many ways. I love it!

Driving down US1 from Key Largo down to Key West in brilliant sunshine with turquoise seas on either side of the road, listening to Moby.
That's a good enough reason on it's own, but also:
Iggy Pop
Lou Reed
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The list could go on...

The members of System of a Down have various ethnic backgrounds (Armenian, I think, in the case of the lead singer), but they are based in America, and I think the members were actually born there.
Another good thing about America, of course, is its ethnic variety!
Cheers,
Stretchy.

Elvis/Memphis. Sitting on the front porch drinking beer late into the night. The girls love my accent. Baseball. Pick up trucks. Cincinnati. The love of my life the girl I'll never see again. Their unashamed disinterest in the rest of the world. The Food. The scenery. The great friends I have made for life.

Even if this conversation dies before too many respond, even if all that's said after this message is "gee, that's great," I wanted to revive this thread.
I had a bit of a snit in the "What's Wrong With Americans" thread, and I thought that perhaps I could contribute something positive by letting people read what has been written here or allow anyone who wants to post their own thoughts.
Feel free to post in that infamous conversation, but give this a look, too. Please.

I have to admit, after having seen so many US bashing threads, this is quite a nice change of pace.
- The original documents from the revolutionary period. They inspire this cynic.
- The ability to traverse an entire continent and several unique ecosystems and cultures without a passport.
- The ability to, from time to time, unite and give singularity of purpose to a group of people so diverse that they can't even agree on a word to describe carbonated beverages (soda? pop? coke?).
- The ability to go skiing in the morning, surfing in the afternoon, and attend the premier entertainment option of your choice at night.
- The "quit bitching about it and let's DO something" attitude.
Key: Complain about this post
