Baudolino has lost it's grip on me, with about 50 pages to go, it's becoming a toil.
So I whipped through The Fellowship of the Ring, which was fun as usual (except for Tom Bombadill which I read very carefully this time to see why so many people like him. Still about that)
now I'm alternating Baudolino with another run through Farenheit 451, before I read The Two Towers.

"Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo!"
Yes, I must confess it sounds a bit .
...but Tom Bombadil is still a nice fellow. He is strange, but that's ok for somebody of his age.

Congratulations to Adelaide for having rejected The Fountainhead. A disgraceful book with a dangerously wrong-headed 'philosophy'.
I've just finished 'Small Island' by Andrea Levy. A wonderful book! It parallels the changes in post war Britain (due to immigration) with the changes in its characters' lives. There are some extremely sharp moments, especially dealing with racism in the US forces. What is especially powerful is the way the Jamaican characters, who proudly regard themselves as British begin to realise that this is not how the British see them. It's the Radio 4 Book Club choice this month, and I'm looking forward to hearing Jim Naughtie discuss it with the author.
I've just started a second assault on Q by Luther Blisset. (The author is an Italian anarchist collective who 'borrowed' their name from the former Watford/ AC Milan footballer)

We both get the feeling that this is about to happen>>>>>...Apologies to P.G.Wodehouse, but you have to love his book...The Luck of the Bodkin. "Into the face of the young man who sat on the terrace of the Hotel Magnifique at Cannes there had crept a look of furtive shame, the shifty hangdog look which announces that an Englishman is about to talk French. Which we changed to....about to mention Lateral Thinking....who is we? Its us of course, Woy Woy defenders of the Holy Milligan!!...(Woy Woy is where his Mum lived)

I honestly *did* intend to read it, for some mad reason (probably because I had tried and failed before) but, no, it's not worth it...

Can you have a dangerously correct-headed 'philosophy'? Hmmm. Well in any case if one needs to know about all things philosophic, then you could do no better than to tackle Ratty and Moles conundrum of how to spend a perfect day! ...ummm have some chocolate>>>

"Do What Thou Wilt: A Life of Aleister Crowley", a fascinating history of a very intriguing man, and "Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden of Everything". They're both great.
I don't read as much fiction as nonfiction, but I recently finished Robert Rankin's "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse", and it was a very entertaining read.
