"relatively few people have an interest in"

I'm afraid I'm of the right age, musical tendencies and social groupings in which everyone, literally *everyone* as both Libertines albums, and those that don't have Down in Albion don't out of protest, so I'm afraidI get tell. Mind, I personally never saw the Libertines, and have only seen Babyshambles once, and Yeti once.

I can't remember who, maybe David Thingamy of New York Dolls, talking o 6music the other day saying rock 'n' roll was about 1% talent, 2% music, 99% attitude.

ANd now for something completely different,

I think (but am not sure - to much JDsmiley - winkeye) that when I said 'relatively few' I meant that a small proportion of the people who read about PD have any interest in his music.

Cor, this thread's much better when the music's discussed rather than just listed!

I'm afraid it's still Marillion at the moment. Good memories of adolesence, under age vodka and my first halfway decent band at school.

When I was about 15 a friend of mine played me 'Script For A Jester's Tear' (Marillion's first album) while we were rolling about in a vodka haze. I was gobsmacked.

Never heard of Marillion, did a quick google and checked W*kipediea. Basically said "A band, with some people in, who released some albums and toured, and now for some intresting statistics about how much galvanised steel has been used constructing their gig stages". It is such a dull, dry, meaningless read. You care to enlighten me into like, what they actually do?

God, alcohol and music don't always mix well - last Leeds fest, carling crates, riot police, cider tent burning down, gas canistors on fires. smiley - erm

But, whilst it was on, the music was great smiley - ok

Now listening to Brakes, side-project of one of BSP I think.

There are a couple of guide entries:

A164503

A580349

The first is a bit lacking, the second is about the time after I lost interest. Hmmmph. I might have to get writing.

In a nutshell: they sounded a bit like Peter Gabriel era Genesis (no bad thing), had four eighties albums with a running story, sacked the singer for being alchoholic, and got boring. But that's just my opinion!

Sho - employed again!

Thanks to Roymondo...

Marillion - Season's End - from the period after he lost interest (but the lead singer, Steve Hogarth,is just so...mmmmmmmmmmm)

I regard them as two different bands. The completely overblown Prog-Rock-Like Fish era (the first time I heard Script for a Jester's Tear I had to play it over and over and over - couldn't get enough of it)

The Steve Hogarth era is much more melodic. But what's not to love about a song called Cannibal Surf Babe...

I recently learned that Vangelis was in a prog-rock band with Demis Roussos. I'm not sure whether my terror surpasses my intrigue or the other way round.

I'm listening to various one hit wonders on Channel 4.
