Volvo for life?!

Well, I had to crash my dad's company first afore I got the nod (and a loan) to buy my own car. Safety first, and a massive LPG-tank!- thus I wandered into the volvofolds. That was in 1979, I must have had some 30 vehicles in all, my own were either a 2CV or a Volvo.
My current car is cal BG (Blue Giant) as it has covered 500.000+ miles, most of it in my keep. It's no shining beauty, it's a sturdy, quite oversized and reliable machine, I guess I'm a bit like that myself. Spending 6 hours a day in a car makes one lonely I guess, and I'm very happy that BG doesn;t let me down, in spite of a lack of funds that would enable volvo-prescribed maintenance schedules, oil changes and such. If all goes according to plans, or rather hopes!- a new coat of paint and a massive maintenance will be executed in 2011, in time for me to top the million and see the odometer get rid of all the "9"'s and start a new with six zero's. No doubt on my mind that the BG will make that mark.
And yep, I often thank him for bringing me home safely. Maybe some cars have a soul or maybe I've just lost a bit of "it" in the thousands of hours behind BG's steering wheel

Good luck with the million! It's great to hear of a car that's reliable for once! What sort of Volvo is BG?
BG

We'll do our best to top the 9's!
BG is a 1995 945 with some 138 horses hidden under the blue bonnet; it uses a low pressure turbo to get that power out of 2.3 liters. LPG being rather cheap to run over here makes me an LPG-addicts since my first Volvo, although I 've clocked up some miles on diesel engined volvo's as well. I guess that having an auto shifter as well as a not too rash driver does help that reliability.
Next month I plan to have the bonnet resprayed and then I'll fix the 500.000 miles badge I received from the (UK) Volvo Club.
Enjoy the eastern days!
