I'm looking but I don't see anyone mentioning who I think would be an obvious and perfect choice for director. He's british, a python and knew DNA for that matter... Terry Gilliam anyone???? Name a bad movie he's done!!! He'd be PERFECT for director!!!
and in response to the guy who said there's no good british directors... besides the aforementioned Terry Gilliam (and the others listed in a post above) have you never heard of Guy Ritchie???

The Australian sense of humour is close to the British sense of humour, so maybe an Australian director would be ok. Baz Luhrman makes 'interesting' films.

Add Stanley Kubrick to the list of good British filmmakers. Why not have one of the Pythons direct it? After all they were close to Douglas and funny funny people. (By the way--what of Eddie Izzard as Arthur Dent? Just a thought.)
