A Conversation for Talking Point: Fantasy Resignations
Boy, am I surprised!

I gave this some thought and realized that this is the first job I've had where I not only like the people, but I like the job. (Not enough to continue working, of course!)
My first job I would have just walked away from, laughing hysterically. My next, I would have thrown a party in the nearest bar and said goodbye. My last, I would have thought up something really evil, like filling the office with 3-day old raw shrimp.
But, my current job? I'd probably give them a month to get a replacement (the earlier the better), and cater lunch every day til I left. Never would have thought I'd say that about a job.
Boy, am I surprised!

Hiya,
Congratulations!
You have just won 40% of the game of life! A fulfilling and pleasant work life.
How are you going with the other 60% (equally fulfilling and meaningful relationships, family, friends, pets, intellectual and physical pursuits etc)?
Regards,
WennaKat

Thanks, WennaKat, for the congrats.
Well, I feel pretty lucky there, too, when I make myself stop and think about it. Family suffers the normal assortment of medical problems and life-gripes, but I consider mine pretty mild compared to the worst-case scenarios people always jibber on about.
I could always use more friends. I've mentioned my major career moves, where most of my friends were at those times. I'm afraid I haven't been as good about keeping in touch with those as time goes on, geography being what it is and all. Not a lot of them seem to go the computer/e-mail route.
I found one after about 12 years. He and I trade e-mails pretty regularly. Others are work friends.
We've moved a lot over the years (renting), but I may be able to do better now that we've just bought our first house.
Pets: Four cats; Zazu, Wolverine, Nokimos, and Sir Dark and Stormy Knight; each a character.
Just finished a degree in Business Management, though opportunities to exercise the skills may not come for a while. I write short stories, and am just finishing a play.
Wrote a musical awhile back [about cats(?)], a homage to Sir ALW designed for youth theatre. It is called Fat Cats - a domesticated cat world adventure (with apologies to ALW).
My physical pursuits, for the time, seem limited to all the new landscaping work that the house requires. Then comes finishing internal remodeling and setting up some sort of shop in the garage. After that, it's probably back to the Total Gym.
How's about you? Good stuff going on, I hope. (and by the way, thanks for asking!)
With Warm Regards,
