Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary] Started conversation Jul 13, 2005
WOO! Seems I'm just full of good news lately. Had my first driving test Monday (about damn time, really). Passed. Went to get the temp licence yesterday, and will get the actual card-thingy in the mail later.
That was me on Monday afternoon, after I called to check. Not figuratively or anything. I was actually just jumping up and down like the grinning maniac that I am.
First time!!! Hardly anyone passes the first time. Dear old Fortuna must have a thing for me. It was a nice day, nice songs on the radio, I had a really nice chatty examiner, so I wasn't stressed - guess that helped.
That, and luck.
I'd say I can't believe it, but I've been believing a whole lot of unbelievable stuff lately...
I have to say, though, that it took a long time... the first half of the match, it really seemed like Procrastination is going to win. I've been putting this off for YEARS - only started taking lessons after I got out of the army, and kept letting all sorts of stuff get in the way. But then on the second half Independence really got its act together, brought in Determination off the bench, gave a great game, and SCORED!
WHEEEE!!!
Now, if only I could get myself to bother about those Uni papers I'm supposed to be writing...

With various new drivers, there really ARE times that I'm happy to be on this side of the Atlantic pond.
Congrats, girl. On all of the great stuff happening for you lately.

I probably should think about learning to drive, one of these days. Or at least before I retire...

Congradulations!
I know how hard it is to pass the first time round, though not from excpirience, since alas, I haven't even started taking lessons myself. Who knows, you may just inspire me.
Anyway, enjoy your newly acquired driviness

You should've come to Texas for a few weeks and gotten your license here. Most (well more than 50%) of people pass the first time here..WAY too many. And most of them are only 16 or 17 yrs old!
Now that I'm a target on two wheels I can really appreciate countries where it's tougher to get a license.

Do not be fooled by how hard it is to get a licence, into thinking that the roads in Israel are full of careful drivers
The roads here are very scary indeed.

ooh yes. People would stop paying big bucks to go to expensive theme parks for terrifying roller coasters if they knew that they could get the same experience taking an Israeli taxi through hilly terrain...
hmm... i hsould probably be inspired to actually go schedule my own test now... I took the driver's ed course 2 years ago, and still dont have my license. the dumbest part is that the insurence discount for the course expires around nowish... so what's the rush? RAck another point up for procrastination.
