I read somewhere that Quenya was beased on Italian but, being no expert in either Finnish or Italian, I cant say for sure. (certainly looks Italian based)

Ah, I stand corrected:
Tolkien himself described Quenya as being "composed on a Latin basis with two other (main) ingredients that happen to give me 'phonaesthetic' pleasure: Finnish and Greek"
From this site:
http://www.sci.fi/~alboin/finn_que.htm
Although that site also mentions that the early forms of Quenya contained many Finnish or near-Finnish words.

Odd - I put this: < quote > in front of the quote, and this < / quote > after it, but it doesn't show in my posting...

Could I be considered for membership, please?
I was inducted into the world of AD&D about 22 years ago and haven't lost my love for RPGs since.
These days I tend to play things like Baldur's Gate and Morrowind on PC, the FF and Broken Sword series of games on PS2, and I introduced my son to D&D and LoTR Battle Game about 3 years ago (he's now 13) so that I had someone to play with (since his Dad has now "grown out of it").
I'm still looking for an online RPG that I like though. Something was mentioned about a FUDGE game being set up online based on the books of Katherine Kurtz when I visited Darkovercon in 2001, but I haven't found anything yet.

Welcome to our newest members Murf, Ancrene and smeredin! You have now been added to our list of members - sorry that it took a while, but I've been away on vacation...
I recently started playing Morrowind and am now playing the Bloodmoon extension.
So far, out of the games I've tried, I think I like Baldurs Gate the best, because of the NPCs and their personalities. Sure, it's been driving me crazy at times when they've come up with ideas of what to do next themselves instead of following my orders - and I can't remember the number of times I've felt a very strong urge to punch Jaheira in the eye for her comments about my leadership...

You should play with an evil party and use Viconia instead, she's much more interesting.
Of course the problem is that Bioware's bias against evil players means that there's not enough evil NPCs for a full party, but you can get around that. The easiest way is to go here: http://www.pocketplane.net/ Or here: http://www.forgottenwars.net/ /Or/ here!: http://www.weidu.org/
And download the NPCs. Valen comes highly recommended.
Another way around it is to use the Multiplayer games and just create two extra PCs, which is what I did originally, but they're not nearly as fun.

As for current events: I've bought Knights of the Old Republic after trying it out at a friend's house, but my worthless computer won't support it so I need a new one.

I was introduced to roleplaying about 20 years ago with Paranoia closely followed by AD&D, i have played and GM'd many games since then running long Self Written Campaigns in rolemaster. Many dual GM paranoia games with far too many players, Also played on MUD's Mainly Austinmud but several others as well. Have palyed the xbox versions of baldurs gate and just bought the bard, I dont do much actual roleplaying these days most of the old players I know no longer bother.

Arrghh! Just realized that I've been spoilt rotten in RL as well as in
VL - what with me being all vague and elf-like and things..
Ahem - anyway - there was this hide from a creature that I needed for a specific mission over at sigmastorm - and I quickly found out that one of the creatures I was supposed to get a hide from was wayyyyy above my head.
So... I posted a request on the game messageboard looking for a knight in shining armour to come to my rescue - and I didn't relent to this until I had ended up in a medical bay several times.
And the *first* response I got was pushy, pushy... I don't think begging will get you very far...
What - asking for help as a newbie is considered being pushy and begging? What the ?
Right - so I've come across some *really* helpfull people over at gothador dot com, but at sigmastorm dot com, it seems you're not supposed to expect to get any help at all...*sulks*
