Whenever I use a MF card (which is rarely as I do not have a lot: if I did my characteur would be too powerful) I always write that it is unstoppable and that it's best to duck. I am quite happy to acept any other type of card I throw, plain playing cards, razor cards or poison cards could be deflected: however it is obviouse that cards which explode on impact cannot be deflected as they would have to hit an object and would thus explode. That's what I mean about playing by the attacker's rules: so long as you do not do anything against a wepon that your attacker says is imposible then you can do what you like (duck, roll, slow down time and step out of the way, throw something at it so that it explodes prematurely and dosent hit you with the same impact). Also if the opponant has got a force-feild, it should be stated that they do before any attack is made on them, and if they dont state it then it can be asumed they do not have one. (quite honestly the idea of a force-feild sounds a little bit like cheating). IF you want information on my weponry/gagetary/defence systems etc, I have a full itinery on my personal page as do all the Knights of h2g2, !!!and I stick to it!!!
The idea for the cards developed from a hobby of mine in RL as I do do card throwing with plain paper ones. The skill orriginaly stemmed from Japanese hit-men who could kill with just an ordinary card from a short distance. However, the X-Men are froody.

Forcefields would only be cheating if the world excluded them, IMO... although of course they'd have limitations, power sources required, mobility restrictions perhaps... not that I'd use one myself, far too uncool.
I should check people's personal spaces more often...
I mentioned the X-Men as I was thinking of Gambit.

Hmm... force fields would only probably be found with the terranics. And, as I said, magnesium isn't hot enough when burning to melt through metal. Thermite is what you're thinking of, Time Traveller, but thermite cannot be made into a card, as it is more like lava than anything else.

Hey, this is h2g2! I bet you're a usless shot in real life and that MaW doesnt have half the wepons he claims he has: it's just a bit of a giggle. Thermite shmermite, truth of the matter is you couldn't really make throwing cards with razors on them that would fly effectively ither, nor could you make exploding cards that did any more than went bang, or those weird electo-thjingy cards you invented yourself, and even if you could I have not mastered any of the more complicated and dangerouse throws yet so there would be a very good chance the card would just flutter to my feet in front of me.
I knew you were refering to Gambit, as I said, X-men are froody.

Yes, this isn't real life, but there's a certain limit to how far plausibility can be stretched with regard to the interaction of known materials...

I think if that limmit goes as far as people being able to fire fireballs from their hands or deflect bullets with a sythe then it can extend to my flare cards. Also I have recentlyu re-read some of these postings, and I notice I have been acused of cheating... ?
O.K., I think what we do now is make concesions for the game. We'll all limit out powers a little and everyone will be happy. I'll start:
* No longer will I use a Time Staff to controle time in any way (I reserve the right to use my car)
* no longer will I use flare cards
There, the two most contraversial wepons I have are gone.

In this particular instance that's not a particular solution - what we're hopefully going to end up with is a world in which we're all aware of what is considered possible, then we can work within that.

I dont know. I mean, I've looked at other postings for similar quests etc, and there was never any of this kind of bother in them.
Key: Complain about this post
