Create: List of Science and Technology Update Entries
Created | Updated Dec 31, 2011
For those who want a look at other possible entries to update, try the ones below. Again the amount of work needed will change from entry to entry, we've tried to split up the topics slightly, to make it easier to find an entry that interests you. Some of the entries will see slightly out of place, some of them will appear massively out of place. However I think with some thought it will seem obvious that Murphy's Law is a fundamental law of General Science.
Astronomy
For those interested in space these are the entries to look at. Many researchers will know that every second, let alone every year our sky will change, and so do these entries. Every scientist nowadays seems to have their own opinion on dark matter (even on its existence) so there should be lots to write about.
Biology
Yes, I know, its a long list. That's because there are millions of species on Earth...just be grateful I don't require an entry and updates on each. Some of these entries require small updates and would be perfect for the new updater. And surely there are some good stories that can be told about "Bird Poo and How to Cope With It"? World Population requires updates every second, but currently its missing about a billion people off, if you don't have the time to update it, pick one in seven people, preferably those who you don't like, and consider that they don't exist according to hootoo.

Computers
Another part of everyday life that is always changing. Whether you are an evil Mac user, or a PC, or even a techie Linux (see below - before and after its update) fan, put your truly vast differences aside to help update these entries. We've survived the millenium, but we must make use of our given time.

The Millennium Bug Crisis - A191521
Modems - A301933
Moore's Law - A270028

Engineering
What the difference is between engineering and inventions I'm not quite sure. Nevertheless humanity would be seriously different if it was missing just one of the below. Imagine not being able to pick up your lightweight plastic remote to change the channel, not being able to call for a spare one, not being able to drive to the store, nor get there without the threat of snipers and indeed - there wouldn't be any modern building at all.
Remote Controls - A61912
Telephones - A273584
Bulletproof Glass - A240832
Cars - A143641
Concrete - A158609
Plastic - A264313
Inventions
A whole range of weird inventions below, but all are very common...well we don't all own a Fleming, and I don't think he was invented, but he was seriously important - he should be known about far more than he is. Just look around you and consider how every manmade item must have been invented by a man or woman.
Fountain Pens - A257960
Hard Drives - A251083
Rechargeable Batteries - A246313
Polyester - A120961
Sir Alexander Fleming - A354656
Umbrellas - A379523
General Science
A smaller category, it carries a couple of very interesting entries. Personally this researcher feels that lab specs are an important part of any scientist's apparel while Murphy's law really does seem to affect everything we do.
Mathematics and Physics
Yes I know, the endless tests, the endless asking of what each seemingly useless piece of Maths could ever be used for. Despite many people's abhorrence of Maths, it is more than capable of being interesting. We all discuss things in Natural Units - the routemaster bus for example, is very helpful for considering lengths. Science fiction would never be complete without a wormhole to speed up travel around the universe. New ideas, new thoughts and new books are always being made and many depend on the "pointless" Maths. For anyone doing the "wormholes and Black Holes" please could you turn it into an entry concerning solely wormholes, we already have an excellent entry on blackholes.
