Oh, and Atticus and mini, you are invited to join us on Noesis too, of course. And everyone who's there please give us a sign in the welcome thread that I started in our volunteer forum, so I know who is already there.

And Effers: you can join once we have settled down if you like. It's not like this is the last chance. Plenty of time later.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Jun 24, 2011
HN: I just do a lot of audio stuff anyhow, so my volenteering here just on the aviating side, ought not impinge too much on my time with the community side of the fence (or is that river now... I forget... stream... brook... I like brook actually... soft tinkling sound of water flowing over a shallow river bed.... the reeds rubbing aginst each other and creating that kind of rustling noise, and small birds darting in and out of the shallows catching insects... err sorry I got distracted there didn't I?)
One of the handy things with the aviators, is it doesn't even require people to actually be members, though its good if they are; And under the new site moreso I think people will actually join; But, say, for example, I wanted to put together an audio version of a piece of fiction, or poetry etc., which has been in the Post, if there were a group, on h2g2, or, even just post on ask, to get volenteers, to, E.G., read out the text and record it, so long as they've got half-decent recording equipment (sorry, but I can't see the point in producing pieces which are really low quality recordings, not when every teenager in their bedroom seems capible of recording tunes and uploading them to the interwebs), ten I can do geekery on it and level out volumes, add in an intro/outro narration, put on any/create any background music, sound FX, etc...
I'm also thinking, perhaps in conjucntion with the post, sometimes running hmmm... maybe competitions isn't the right word, perhaps it is... and get submittions that way, of people, say, submitting not only a text/HTML/Guide ML poem, piece of fiction etc., but also doing a recording of their reading it, and then have the two combined in the post when its printed; the physical guide ML markedup A page, with the text, and a link in that to the audio version of the same... Actually that woudl work bluddy brilliently for poetry, as its always a bit of a guessing game when you read someone elses pros and try to work out the pace, tambre and suchlike that they may have intended it to have... Blimey... that's almost like an idea... I'm useually lousy at coming up with ideas

I have to admit I'm a bit confused by the Noesis forum. Taking a quick look around there doesn't seem to be a clear area for Hootoo members. I am probably being a bit dense though because I'm the kind of person that tries to avoid reading instructions whenever possible, so I'm probably missing something.

Atticus, you can only see the h2g2 area once Jordan (or someone else) has registered you to it. This may take a bit, I'm sure he will tell us once he did it.
Then the h2g2 area will appear at the bottom of the forum list.

Do any of you have access to the h2g2 forums already?

Everyone who has given their user name *should* have access now. Let me know if there are any problems.

2legs: How about we make a video together and submit it in the Save The Best For Last competition. You do a reading of your Ode To A Bacon & Spinach Quiche, maybe with some background music fading in and out dramatically, and I take the mp3 and set some pictures of making one with the recipe into a video?

Sounds a bit like the gnocchi Beeblecast HN - it might be good to do something completely different?
Key: Complain about this post
