Thanks, I was planning on getting the 10.30 train to arrive at 1pm, as we are supposed to be meeting at the museum at 2pm and I thought the arrival at 2pm would be cutting it fine....
OK, if I don't see any of you at the station I'll follow Capn Kebab's instructions.
Congratulations Geoff & family!

How long are you going to get to stay, Galaxy Babe? There's supposed to be a phone call to me at 6 pm (your time) and I'd really like to get to say hi...

GB, if you like Andy and I can meet you at Manchester Picadilly, assuming that First Northwestern trains are not on strike!
If they're not, its probably easiest for us to get the train into manchester and then get the metrolink

looks like a lot of peoples who i'd like to meet are going to be going (english was nvr my rongs point) : doesn't look like I can make it: unless I can swiftly find accomidation, and figure out train times! : and I seem to remember its a long train journey (aside train delay's), so If, and I mean* IF* I can* make it, i wouldn't be arriving to late.... and if that were the case, I just might to have to pay the extra nothing to pass over to Leeds and say "hi" to a certain who I don't think, (as far as I can remember ) can make the marrow but then, again, neither, do I look like a strong possibility for a contendant in attendee of the year, this year

Did I get the date right?
is any of these journeys in line with prefered arrival time?
Where can I sleep? : all items regarding train times are copyright railtrack and are reproduced here for the means of enquiring to others as to which time would seem most prefered for the journey, (this does not affect mine, yours, his, or her, statory rights).

First North Western are definitely not on strike on Saturday - if they were I would know about it. I'm pretty confident Arriva Trains Northern are running a normal service as well. Nobody else who serves Manchester is in dispute, so train services should run as booked. Doesn't mean they'll be on time, though.
I've just got back from watching threesecondmemory's band gigging at the Attic in Manchester. Go and see them if you can, before they're famous - they're GOOD! http://minusoneraver.tripod.com/

2legs - if you're coming up I'd suggest you get the 08:42 to Liverpool (Central Trains), arrive Manchester Piccadilly 12:36. It's not tha fastest possible journey but it's a direct train, so you don't have to muck about, and it should have a butty trolley on it. Don't panic when it reverses at Sheffield - it's meant to do that.
There's a new Yates's at Piccadilly where you can have an or two while you wait for the others to land. Hope you can make it.

Amy, I'll be able to stay until approx. 8pm.
The train I have to get home is at 8.40pm, which will get me home by midnight.
Unfortunately I can't stay overnight.
Hoping the trains aren't on strike {mine will be Arriva} I'll see you all tomorrow!

2legs, I was gonna offer you accomadation at mine. Trouble is, I have got to go to a party at the night time do, so if you were gonna stay at mine, you'd have to come with me really. Gonna go to the party at about 9ish. The offer is there.

still no sure if I can doodle it... Broadband refussed to work again till i turned off most of the settings Hmm, if I can get to the bank today there is a slim chance I can do it, but I'll have to think about accomidation maybe there is a "late train" returning back to cambridge - hmm, and I've been forced to visit local drinking establishments tonight which i might not be able to get out of (2legs doesn't know 2where things are, let alone what they are for)

Gosh, everybody is worried about train strikes. To the best of my knowledge the next RMT strike date on Arriva Trains Northern (including Transpennine Express) is 21 September.
Aslef have announced a strike on First North Western on 10 and 11 September, but talks are ongoing on that one. I don't think RMT and ATN are talking.
If anybody is concerned you can check with National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50, but there's no guarantee you'll get any sense out of them. National Rail http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ have a live station departure board system on their website, as well as real time service disruption reports. It's usually accurate, if not terribly comprehensive.
If you are using First North Western services try their Train Running Hotline 0800 528 0200 - you can get live train running information from that number 24/7. If you talk to them nicely they might tell you about Arriva Trains as well, but I can't promise.
Captain Kebab. He knows where things are - and when.
