I think Jim has just put it so much more eloquently than I could... sod Rose, she has her Doctor... what does Donna have? I was blubbing at the end. I hadn't realised how much I had grown to like Donna, or how good an actress CT is.
Great episode. Great Program. Give me more

I could have done without that Love Story stuff in Norway, but that's RTD all over shoving 'Shipping' down our thoats, except for this series thank god, if Donna had have been mooning over the doctor like Marth did in the last series I may actually have stopped watching, that ruined last year for me, now with Steven Moffat at the helm we will get proper dark stories (Not enough to upset the kiddies tho)
Nice to see it's down on paper that Gwyneth and Gwen are actually related, even though RTD insisted that when Eve Myles was cast as Gwen she would NOT be a decendent of Gwyneth

Secretly Not Here Any More Posted Jul 5, 2008
I quite liked it. Thought Davros was portrayed excellently - especially the sheer hate as it all came crumbling down around him at the end (what odds can I get on him surviving that one?), THAT WOMAN finally won me over 100% and we finally once and for all got shot of Billie effing Piper.
The "bad guy" in that episode was the best part, because we finally get to see that our hero is in fact this manipulative genius whose pacifism and morals are only able to survive due to the constant sacrifices of those around him. We finally get to see The Doctor as much more than a 2D "good guy".
Oh, and did anyone else like the ludicrous countdowns?
"Something unimportant will happen in FIVE seconds..."
"Something quite important will happen in TEN seconds..."
"Our unstoppable masterplan will be unleashed SOMETIME BETWEEN NOW AND CHRISTMAS..."
Textbook flaw in the evil plans there, and I loved it.

I just loved the spinning Daleks...so many chidhood memories
Nice twist with the "Doctor/Donna" and now we understand the "3 fold man"...so has he used up a regen or not?
Excellent all round stuff , best finale by far I think. It will be interesting to see what happens after the Xmas epsiode to ensure the momentum after last four series is kept to the maximum.
All round

Mostly wot Jim said.
Although I have to admit that there was a short section in the middle where I was thinking "Can we just get on with the good bits at the end?" But all in all I thought it was brilliant. I loved it when the Tardis was full of people. The Doctor/Rose resolution was excellent (thank goodness). Davros showing the Doctor himself was really good.
Really sad about Donna. And what did he mean, somebody's been manipulating the time lines to make sure that she got to him? Still a bit of speculating left to tide us over till next year.
Osh was gutted when he realised that that's it now until Christmas.

I think Caan was supposed to be the one manipulating the time lines. To make sure that the Daleks were destroyed.
Loved it. Brilliant episode. And we got a scene were there was someone on every side of the console.
And no time-reversal undo everything wotsit. Great final scene with Sir Bernard too. What do you mean he's not been knighted? Whyever not?

Deb Posted Jul 5, 2008
Well I thought that was just OK. It seemed to have more pace than content, somehow. Although as has already been mentioned, it could be because of the expectations raised by last week's fantastic episode.
Very sad about Donna, she's going to continue through life thinking she's not up to much
Tod: <<" DETONATE THE REALITY BOMB !" Is a phrase I shall be inserting into everyday conversation for the next few weeks >> My phrase for the next few weeks will be "Exterminieren"

i thought twas an excellent episode, i got a bit lost at the bit where the daleks decided that they'd blow up the universe and all that jazz but then i got into t again. it made me when donna spun the daleks round and made them all make funny 'ahh' noises and 'what are you doing?'

Thanks Geggs, so that's just 12 minutes of speculating then ... I was hoping for a bit longer
How long to Christmas, again?

Nah, detonate the reality bomb is the *best* line in years and will be used at chez magwitch for a while.
Donna really grew on me. I'm really sad to see her go (and I *never* thought I'd say that)
Best finale so far...cried buckets, the front of me t-shirt was rather damp.

I KNOW! i didn't think that catherine tate would pull it off, but she really grew on me. I cried when donna's grandad said 'i'll look up, for her.' awww!
the return of the cybermen still to come though! i wonder what's going to happen?

Didn't look like Frazer Hines in the Christmas trailer to me. Looked familar though.
Definately looked like Dervla Kirwan in there, however.

I noticed David Morrisey in the Christmas trailer.
I thought the episode was a bit anticlamactic on the drama front but after last week's WOW factor, I'm not surprised.
Overall, I thought it was great. Funny, touching and thoughtful.
173 days until Cyberday!

I'm not convinced that's the last we'll ever see of Donna though... I've this feeling she'll be back

Have avoided this thread this year, since you lot kept swatting up all the clues and spoiling the big reveal for me in previous years .
I actually think this series of Doctor Who has been a bit disappointing compared to the others since the program was revived, and that extends to the finale as well. I'm throughly fed up with the plucky Earthling backslapping. Also, do not approve of the Doctor 'I love you'ing anyone, a huge break from the past and will never work. Like that time James Bond got married and they had to shoot his wife.
Still, plenty of good moments. Davros was really well done, I liked his 'this is my final victory' speech, and most of all his moment with Sarah Jane. German daleks were brilliant.
The half-human doctor could also sort of explain continuity of the Paul McGann film, although on reflection I think I'd rather just leave that in its never-happened-box.
The Sontaran episodes were the highlight of this series.

I forgot to mention one slight disappointment - that Wilf didn't get a trip in the Tardis, but under the circumstances, it probably didn't seem appropriate.
I hope that, in a future episode, we'll get a glimpse of Donna's new life. Maybe she'll start a successful small business and finally get out of temping.

RadoxTheGreen - Retired Posted Jul 6, 2008
Donna still has the ring, I notice.
Loved the bit where Jackie was told not to touch anything on the console.
However, I would have enjoyed this one a lot more if it weren't for Murray Gold and his BLOODY ROW!
Yet again, in this episode I lost count of how many times I had to rewatch a scene with the subtitles on,
just so I could get through his HUCKING RACKET to find out what was being said.
Hopefully, Steven Moffat will establish his new order by booting him off for the next series
(or at least banning him from using that godawful orchestral choir).
