Thud! now in the house. But I'm not allowed to read it until I'm given in at Christmas.

The cover looks interesting. It reminds me of another book - 'Squares of the City' by John Brunner. It's a bit of a weird book, in that the whole plot is based on a chess game, with various characters being killed or disappearing when pieces were taken in the game. The hero of the book only discovers this at the end of the book, when he also learns the he is a knight in the game being played between the leaders of the two political parties in the city.

Having not read Thud yet, I have no idea whether any of that is relevant -like if the plot is based on a game of Thud that the leaders of the Drawves and Trolls is playing.

If any of this speculation is supported by the book then I assure you, it is merely speculation and not a spoiler.

I just bought mine in Easons.

In other news, I saw Jonathan Ross interviewing Terry Gilliam last night in one of the plethora of shows that he presents, and Terry Gilliam mentioned about how he tried to make Good Omens into a film. That was about it really, but I thought I should mention it. smiley - erm
