ok thought I'ed give it a go, well what a load of old **** I'm really impressed at the scale of amtureisim of this new site, almost like the government, who I hasten to add, deem themselves fit to govern even though, apparently none of the W$$$s has ever has a real job in the real world!

Not a death knell. A moving van.

I confess I go over to look around about once a week, but I just get annoyed and come back.

I'll start using the new system properly when:

1. I can edit entries.
2. I can look at my conversations page, click on the links there and they bring me to where they are supposed to.

3. Post to other people's journals.

I know you know about all those bugs already. But there is really no way I can use the new system to any great extent until those three are done.

I'll start using the new system when:

1) They re-instate skin support
2) They restore our original naming conventions

Alternately, I'll just hang on and hope that whoever buys the site has the sense to dump it and "roll back" to the last stable DNA front-end version.

The new site looks pretty, but I don't know where anything is and all I hear is it doesn't work so I'm sticking with Brunel.

We'll investigate. Whoever the Who's Online function is not something we're looking at replicating on the new site. It will probably end up being retired, although we know how attached people are to it, so we're genuinely sorry about that.

It strikes me that there's an awful lot of 'we're not going to replicate that function' and not a lot of 'here are all the functions that make the site better.'

Many seem to agree that the new site 'looks' more 'up to date' than any of the old skins, and I realize that there's some sort of fixation on presenting 'modern' Barlesque look to a prospective buyer, but I don't understand why somebody at the BBC hasn't said, 'right, lets stop throwing good money after bad. Some whizz kid cobble together a Barlesque skin for the old site and let's be done with this thing.'

Re: 3. As far we're aware you should be able to reply to people's Journal entries now. Just click on 'Discuss this Journal entry' and then hit REPLY in the usual way. Can you let us know if this still isn't working for you. Cheers.

I thought the apostrophe bug had been fixed several days ago, but I just saw a post where it is still a problem.

But once all other bugs are fixed, people will start using barlesque en masse, and the apostrophe bug won't matter anymore.
