Taff there are no odubt legal considerations around "commercial confidence" and any bidding process itself.

I find it hard to beleive we are not being told stuff out of any sort of malevolance.

Quite so. And it's worth remembering that anyone can read this site, so as soon as the Eds post a statement about the sale it is public knowledge. The Eds wouldn't just be telling us, though we may be the most interested parties, they would be telling the world.

I'm sure that as soon as there is something that they can tell us, they will.

The only bad conspiracy theory is a boring one. smiley - winkeye

I once listened politely to someone who was rattling on about how bad the Masons were. Well, at least two Masons were capable of writing national anthems for Austria smiley - bigeyes.

Things didn't end well for him, poor guy. smiley - rose Of course, with Napoleon around, a lot of people suffered, including Joseph Haydn, who died because of Napoleon's armies fighting in his neighborhood.

It was a slightly different world in those days, though. Quite a lot of institutions were radical and visionary three hundred years ago; it doesn't mean they necessarily still are...

the bid window closed last week and there was no announcment on hootoo!!

they dont have to give details, just say there has been some/none/little/lots of interest in the sale, just to keep us in the loop

Harder than adamantite!

# In J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings it is said in the second verse of Bilbo's Song of Eärendil, regarding the appearance of Eärendil; "Of adamant his helmet tall". At the crowning of King Elessar, it is said that his crown "was adorned with jewels of adamant". Also, Nenya, one of the Three Rings of Power, was described as the Ring of Adamant.

I think that Nick is telling us all that he legally can tell us, when he announced the sale of h2g2:

'Closing date for enquiries: 17th March 2011'
'This is the first stage of the formal process for a possible sale of
H2G2.'
'I can tell you that you that we hope to have made a decision by June
of this year, although if a sale is possible it will take longer than
that to implement it.'

It's not June yet..
