Oh good. That's all right then. Let's get some proper sniping, backbiting and conspiracy theories going.

Anger, the way Taff is using it, is always negative. Positive anger has to be channeled, and utilised to make an improvement. Taff is not doing that. If it helps you that's fine, but it does not help the community as a whole.

>but it does not help the community as a whole.<
Yeah well maybe the new community is only for certain sorts of people.
I like the idea of being part of a community that makes allowances for people's differences, struggles and personal circumstances...

<quote>"Barlesque is yet another skin"<quote>
No, it isn't. It's a whole new infrastructure that precludes the use of skins. If we move on to a new non-BBC host, one of the first things I would suggest is rolling back to the previous version and introducing a "cosmetic" skin that looks like the Barlesque interface did. That way, if it causes any problems, they will be purely cosmetic, (and *much* easier to fix) and people will still have the choice to use older skins as they see fit.

Peet, that sounds like a good idea to me, if it's feasible. (Non-, here.)
Having recourse to older skins might solve some accessibility issues, unless I misunderstood?

It makes me sad that you think that. I want the community to be as inclusive as possible.

So do I. But anger is not a positive force for change if it's just being used to point fingers and make baseless accusations. I don't know what Taff's personal circumstances are, and unless he chooses to tell me they are none of my business. But nothing will be acheived by ranting and raving when there are proper channels to go through. I do not deny you or him his anger. I am angry. A lot. All over the place. And what is happening to my favourite website made me angry and upset. But I am channeling that emotion as positively as I can.

I don't have a problem with anger. I know Taff reasonably well and its for him to talk much about himself, but I shall say he's someone that's* literally* put his body on the line for this country.
I've never done that, but if I *hate* the new thing and think it excludes some sort of people, I'll have *no* hesitation not paying my Licence fee. The way this thing has been done has actually messed with my sanity, that's a *fact*.
So that's why I'm a bit cross.

H2g2 survived the original BBC take over, it has weathered several sign in systems. If it survives the current upheaval if will last forever.

I know a bit about Taff.
He works permanent nights, one on, one off.
When he is in work, the situation is that he only has access to BBC websites. So when the beeb boots us into touch, he will lose his contact with us when he most needs it, when he is on his night-shifts.
I fully understand his anger and bitterness, and do not blame him for it!!

I do not deny your right to be cross, and I understand that your condition is a fragile one (hence why I have defended you elsewhere and am making an effort to be calm now) but anger, when improperly channeled, is only ever destructive. There are proper channels Taff can utilise to establish whether his claims have any basis in fact. If they turned out to be true I would utterly defend his right to feel the wat he does, but until there is some PROOF he cannot go around making accusitory remarks and pointing fingers because that will acheive nothing.

I access h2g2 mostly at work, and would have a similar problem to Taff. Whoever the new owners though,be it a business or the c2 project, we would still ahve that problem. Being community owned can't change the fact that we won't have a BBC URL.

Taff, all that told me was that you cannot access anything other than BBC sites at work and has no bearing on your behaviour or the fact you are making baseless accusations in lieu of using the proper channels (which I know you are aware of because you mentioned them yourself). I cannot read between the lines if there's nothing there.
I can vaguely extrapolate from your claimed inability to joinh h2g2c2 that you do not have internet access at home, but until I am told for sure this is purely speculation and nothing will be acheived by stating this, just as nothing is acheived by you speculating based on no evidence that the BBC deceived us.

and when there is PROOF positive we will all be sold down the river and it will be and congrats all round at the Beeb for a job well done
you all know from the media how these things work
the public face is being fed all these lines from above while an under the table deal is done,
when its all put to bed, the anouncer is the one holding the can and the target for all the anger and difficult questions!!!!!
look what happend with Dr. Kelly, the reporter got it right yet was still left hanging out to dry!!!!
all i am saying is
THIS STINKS!!!!!
p.s. still keeping the posts and the convos going

We know it stinks Taff, to high heaven......
That is why some of us are constructively trying to SAVE hootoo for the greater good of the community as a whole.
Sorry about your situation reference BBC websites, but we cannot help that. Sounding off at us as though it was our fault is not helping one bit!
