I had trouble logging in to the new system this morning, because I use Spamarrest to vet my emails; the bbc needed a person to read and retype a "hidden" word (scribbled over to confuse a mechanical reader) before their verifying email could reach me. Fortunately I also have a college email address, so I got them connected to that and got through that way.

If they told us what address they'd be contacting us from, I could have authorised that sender in advance.

Whisky, DNA hub you only need h2g2 account no extra log in!

I get this text:

"If you haven't already registered with us as a Member, please create an account with h2g2. You will be able to use this account to contribute to the Hub."

In the cold light of day the next morning,
The wisky bottle clanging to the floor
the hustle and lamposts settle down,
its h2g2 once more smiley - zen

I'm finally in! Last night, Mozilla and IE both kept sending me to an error page saying that I had "used the back button" or "refreshed my page"... I ended up signing on in Opera. I gave the email almost 2 hours to arrive, but eventually gave up and went to bed. The email was waiting for me when I got up. smiley - ok

I was still a little concerned when the activation link took me to a page saying something to the effect of "You are now a member of BBCi, but you have not used h2g2 yet. Click the button below to join h2g2" and a button labelled "Register with h2g2"... smiley - yikes But I clicked and was taken to (almost) my familiar U-space. smiley - puffsmiley - wow

h2g2, I missed ya'! smiley - cuddlesmiley - smooch

Peet, are you using the Gimme Opera or the paid for?
And which Mozilla are you using?

Somebody was telling me the other day I should have more than one wowser, for testing HTML pages...

tr, I'm using the "Free" Opera, v7 and Mozilla 1.5a... I also have Netscape 7, Netscape 4.7 (I'm struggling to stick within the "no spitting" rule there) and IE6, all for that very purpose.

A tip - if you're using the "Free" Opera, and only looking at one site, press F11?thread="wizard" class="smiley" src="http://www.h2g2.com/h2g2/skins/Alabaster/images/Smilies/f_wizard.gif"/>

Poor thing...
I haven't had any problems yet this morning.

Hmm. That's interesting, Peet. Where did you get the antique Netscape?
How does your computer react to all those wowsers? And how many can you use simultaneously?

Got some errors, of the 'you need to register or log in to post' type. When hitting the 'reply' button', they' d pop up these error messages, just hit back button, and hit 'post', or 'reply' again, till it worked smiley - erm annoying though and not uniformly on everything smiley - weird
