Whadda ya mean there's nothing useful in the backlog. You can find out all of the books I have been reading recently. And how I liked them. This current book is kinda cool. It's basically a travel book. Evelyn Waugh wrote 4 books about some trips he took around 1930, then later condensed them into this one book. Some of the stuff he did is really quite amazing. One of the trips was to see the coronation of the Emperor of Abyssinia (which is now Ethiopia). This was only in 1930, so I was amazed at how primitive the country was. The coronation was farcical and I had to keep reminding myself that this wasn't fiction. The part I am reading now is about a trip he made to the Amazon. Can't understand why he would want to go through what he is going through.

That reminds me. I started reading "King Solomon's Mines" a few months ago, but never finished it. I should really look into that one again.

I thought that book was okay, and was glad I had read it, but it wasn't a 'keeper'

That's my reaction to so many books/movies. Like a movie called "Best Of Show." I am very glad that I watched it, it was funny and entertaining, but you couldn't force me to watch it again. It was just too dirty in some places.

[Dylan] I'm reading the Epic of Gilgamesh. The only reason I picked it up was because Gilgamesh is the name of the Idiotic Recurring Villain in FF5 (and during your second battle with him, he has a sidekick named Enkidu).

Enkidu was Gilgamesh's friend and enemy in the Epic, I believe, depending on which part you were reading. Right?

enkidu started out as an enemy and ended up as a friend.

The first half of my copy of the book is taken up explaining everything about the would Gil lived in. I skipped that, and deduced who the hell it was talking about from the context.

Poor ol' Gilgamesh. His life is almost exactly the same story as many people who are trapped in cubicles their entire lives with no hope of advancement.
