h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

*half turns while running, fires a fire bolt from his wrist crossbow, leaps out of the mosoleum door*

*the fire bolt hits Spectres hand, and he drosp the sword*

*gets out one of his dark crystals(the equivalent of a frag grenade, in this case)*

*throws it*
*picks up the sword with his other hand*

*The grenade explodes 5 meters behind HDS, a few of the fragments lodge themselves in his left thigh and the concussion throws HDS another 4 meters where he lands unceremoniously on his belly. HDS pops the topp off of a small chrystle phile and drinks its redish fluid. HDS's leg numbs and he begins to crawl for the cover of some tombstones*

*quickly digs with his sword in the dirt in front of him*

*crawls into a grove of dead trees near the tombs, rests his back against a log and tries to dig the chrystle shards out of his leg with a pair of forceps from a med pack*

*doing something harmless a ways away*

*slowly extracts the last of the shards, spreads an anti-bacterial cream on the wounds, ties off the leg with a tournaket and slaps a synth-flesh patch over the wounds, struglles to his feet, grabs a nearby branch to uses as a crutch, and hobbles out of the tree grove, loads his wrist crossbow, and tries to see if Spectre is about*

*in front of hds is a large hole with dirt flying out, into a mound around it*

*doesn't notice the hole, and falls in*

*is digging inside the holem has already dug a tunnel several feet long*

*notices hds*

*turns around*

*loads and fires a bolt from his wrist crossbow, starts trying to claw his way out*

*gets hit by the bolt, which pins him to the floor*

*the floor, very thin here, colapses, and sends him tumbling into a crypt-cavern*

*HDS continues to claw his way out of the pit, he is very close to getting out*

*I'm sure he did as no sign from Spectre is heard*

*tries not to wonder where spectre is, as that ussually gets spectre close and nasty, finally gets out of the pit, lies on the ground panting*

*something like a crackling flame-sound is heard from below*

oh dear.

*picks up his mace, pushes the head into the ground and pushes himself up to his feet. HDS hobbles back to the tree grove and fashions of a splint for his leg and dons it. HDS loads his wrist crossbow again and peers from the bushes at the hole, listening to the crackling sound*

what new devilry is this?

*smoke starts to come out of the hole*

*spots a well, hobble over to it, starts vigourusly pumping the the handle, water slowly starts to dribble out into the pail, it slowly increases in amount as he continues pumping*

*steam comes up from the hole*

*hissing noise*
*several heavy thuds, creaking, and assorted noises*
*a rope is thrown out of the hole*
