*Richardson walks over to his coffee pot and offers Amelia coffee.*

Thanks, Xai. I've been busy with schoolwork and haven't had a chance to make a forum myself. I hope you aren't /too/ angry with me...

*Amelia smiles and takes it greatfully. She hasn't had coffee for... what is it, roughly 24 hours now? She doesn't remember, and frankly, it doesn't matter. She begins to sip it slowly, in order to not forget the taste, because she might not get any more for a while now. She half-thinks about asking if it's decaf, and then refrains. On a whim, she removes her hip-flask and adds a bit of it to the coffee. (She needs a drink. Badly.) She gives a sly to Richardson, in a sort of "Hey, don't say anything about this..." way.*

Amelia: I just really wanted to know how you came about your clothing. It's very... unique. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it.

*Internal monolouge* ...And consequently from 1940, and not a very "seamanlike" form of dress at all, now that I think of it. I wonder how he gets the stans out of his trousers without a washing machine...

*Richardson turns away for a moment and fiddles with something in his pockets. When he turns back his expression is odd. Quite deliberately he walks to the door and checks the hallway outside he then proceeds to turn his record player on at an unusually high volume. 40's style swing music fills the room and he begins to talk to Amelia cheek to cheek.*

[Richardson] *talking quietly into her ear* You ask about my clothing? I must compliment you on yours, your people have obviously kept very good records and history books.... but i am curious as to how your scientists managed to refine the temporal generators to produce a field stable enough for organic transport? for that matter how did you triangulate the flux coordinates to pinpoint this ship's temporal signature? i doubt you would leave it to chance.... it would have been a long swim if you had missed..... *he pulls back a few inches and stares into her eyes with a piercing gaze*

*thinking to himself* thank god i remember anything from my temporal mechanics class.....

*The loud music and whispering foil any eavesdropping attempts.*

[ooc] thank you kindly game master..... i had hoped that would be the desired effect, nooooooo.... i haven't seen to many cheesy spy movies......

Yay! No eavesdropping! ...And I'm sorry it's been so long. But college and all, you see. Sorry.

*Amelia looks more than slightly freaked out, and half-thinks of removing her navy colt from her shoulderstrap and waving it about in a decidedly menacing manner, but then thinks better of it. Actually firing would bring more attention to herself than was nessecerry, and Richardson deffinately seems to have something to hide as well.*

Amelia: *barely a whisper* What the hell /are/ you...?

*Richarson is amused to finally see something crack her reserve.*

[Richardson] That is of course of little consequence right now..... maybe some day, but as of this moment you are in no position to ask questions..... what are you doing on the mary celeste? and why would you risk contaminating the time line?

[ooc] yeah i know..... college is a spoony spoon.... i'm not happy about it myself, thank god for insomnia (i think)

You said, it, bro. Hey, did you know Arl's ready to kill me, because I'm tying up all your time...? *lol* Oooooh he hates me. But anyway...

*Amelia's expression turns from one of surprise and fear to it's usual stony (Yet strikingly beautiful) demeanor*

Ameila: We do not contaminate the time line. We just... Jump through the holes a bit. In truth, I really don't know how it works... Waitaminute, why am I telling you this? I don't have to tell you anything.

*Internal monolouge "But in truth that last comment might land me in the Brig..." She holds back a grimmace.*

Amelia: OKay, how about this. I'll tell you what I'm all about, if you tell me, Mr. 1940's swing king. And it seems like you have a lot to tell.

*She flashes one of her patented grins that seemed to make Richardson (and any other male, for that matter,) fall over on their face/s.*

Amelia: Think of it this way; you can tell me anything, after this. And I, you. We can be allies. Sound good to you?

*Richardson ponders this for a moment.*

[Richardson] I could just have you thrown in the brig..... or just kill you and dump you overboard, but you intrigue me.....

An alliance would be fine, but she shouldn't read your private thread. You'll have to tell her what you think she should know. Of course, as in real life, neither of you will probably tell everything. Remember to keep your objectives and restrictions in mind and act like Amelia or Richardson would do.

yes, Xai. I propose an alliance. You dig? *salutes Garius* Yes sir! Whatever you say, sir!

Amelia: I'll take that as an "all right then, Bermuda, I supose I'll be your friend" then. *grins*

*Amelia turns to the door*

Amelia: Now who in the name of spork could that be? *whispers to Xai* Shall we ignore it...?

[ooc] Game master? would it not be more appropriate for interuptions to take place in the location for the conversation? such as actually knocking on my cabin door? that would also limit the issue of reading previous posts on accident......

Sounds like a good idea, Xai and it would work for places where there is only one conversation going on. Wouldn't work on deck, of course. It's probably easiest to do it the way Marv did - if there is only one conversation in a location, the conversation thread will be nearer the top of the thread list than the location thread, so it is the one someone will find first. I'll think some more and let you know.

Practically, if you want to make sure one of your posts isn't read by someone interrupting, then post again right after it. Then it is only your second, innocuous post that people entering the thread will see.

Hahaha! So you are. I'm too used to calling you Xai. Sorry about the slip, dear, and everyone else, as well. I hate it when I do that!

*Amelia raises an eyebrow at the mention of her colt, but shrugs and does as Richardson says and settles down for a cup of tea. Wasn't it coffee?*
