Oh, I see - they're open until 10, which is when you get there, and then you won't let them shut until 3. Is that right?

It's not me, it's my girl, honest...we're always the last ones out, but that's because she's an anarchist...
...I on the other hand am terrified of authority (even if it's just in the form of the same bouncers who make @rses of themselves every week )...and always chicken out before she does...she'll be hanging out with the barstaff and I'll be outside smoking and freezing my @rse off...
...well..sometimes it's not that cold...depending on how much I've had to drink !!

*jealous* I'll have to make do with a picture of a beer as I take my pills...

Yes, and the local mini-pub (at my local shops) is open for breakfast on weekends too. Dead handy. (I don't know if they serve alcohol before 10 or 11am, but they're open for food and coffee from 8am.) There's a great pub in Balmain (Sydney) that does Bloody Marys with breakfast...

I lived in Balmain briefly first time I was in Oz. Bet it's changed a bit since then (late 80s).
Then I lived in Paddington, and *loved* how I could eat out all the time and get a variety of food. NZ was still in teh dark ages for vegetarian back then.
Breakfast cafes/pubs - sounds eminently civilised to me

I'm generally up and about by 8am, which is probably why I'm enjoying this being-unwell thing at the moment. I get to sleep in!!!
I've only done the Balmain Bloody Mary Breakfast thing once, but blimey it was memorable. The pub's the Exchange, on Montague St (if that helps); the first floor and the balcony are decked out like an over-the-top Indian club from the days of the Raj - palm trees, strange ornaments, tiger-skin (fake I hope) - that sort of thing. It's a lovely place for a Bloody Mary or two.

I'm not very good with street names. Is Montague St the main one through Balmain, and is the Exchange on a corner?
I'm off to watch a video now. Will see you over the weekend no doubt. Does your increased posting today mean you are on the mend? Hope so
cheers,
kea.

Montague St is down the hill a bit from the main Balmain shops, with the Exchange being on a corner of a narrower street. It's 3 or 4 storeys high.
Yes, I'm starting to feel a bit better; breathing is certainly easier, and the fever's gone. Now I just feel tired and bedraggled more than anything else.

Hi, Kea... Yes, it's boring...
Good skills on finding the link to the Hopoate story... Rugby culture is to me, although I have an ex-husband who used to play. (Maybe that's why it's weird to me!)
Linkin Park rulz!

I know but only because it is such weird story. Even though I grew up in a rugby culture, like Della I still don't get it. Although Hopoate plays league or something?

I have no idea what he plays. I don't know a whole lot about rugger, or understand any of the things I do know about it. It isn't all that popular in South Australia, so I escaped it when I was growing up.

Lucky you and South Australia!
How's your weekend been?
I've been in the garden today (doing actual gardening!) which is a rare treat.
I'm toying with the idea of revamping my PS.
