Is space the final frontier, or is it a trick to keep us over-inquisitive humans from finding out all that we wish to know? smiley - cross

"There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

not to mention dark energy (which seems to be a contradi ction in terms, because I always heard that the only form of energy that can exist in a vacuum is radiant energy- with wavelengths from infrared to microwaves). Nobody has satisfactorily answered what dark energy is.
Somehow, we co8uld say the ultimate question is how many roads can a quark fly down without running into dark energy. A: 42.

Again, I feel that some trick is going on. Dark matter may not exist at all. We're still missing out on some major clue to the nature of the universe.

At times like this, I feel sort of wistful about the good old days. Sure, the plague was rampant, and people burned witches, but ignorance felt good because you lived in the Age of Faith. God knew all that stuff about missing matter (it wasn't missing to Him. He knew what it was, and where it was), and all you had to do was count beads and go to confessional and do your devotionals, maybe sing in the choir if you were male ("Mulier tacet in ecclesiam," said Saint Paul, so boy sopranos and castrati altos handled the treble notes). Let the cosmological constant be God's problem. You can count angels dancing on pins if you're good with math. smiley - smiley

changing the subject: Lansing Michigan is planning a full length Marathon for next spring.

The man behind this idea (according to the article) ran in the London marathon.

Good old plague never hurt anybody; did it matter if there was dark matter?

If you got the plague it probably didn't. smiley - smiley

There's a new sexually transmitted disease that's resistant to every antibiotic we have. Chances are, there will always be people whose immune systems can beat it back.

Trouble with marathon running is the plague of joint injuries smiley - sadface Mind you, Jim Fixx, who invented modern day marathon running never suffered with his joints smiley - cheerup He just had a massive heart attack and died before he got to that stage smiley - ermsmiley - cool

STD, know I don't think I will get that. Heart attack, well most probable and did you no that it is just a black feeling of general unwellness, trouble is you can't shake it and that causes panic.

smiley - dontpanic

Is know good to panic.

Myocardial Infarction is a lack of oxygen to the Myocardium, possible causes, sex, occlusion, thrombosis. It is where the heart cannot beat smiley - musicalnote fast enough to supply oxygen to itself and so beats faster and needs more oxygen which it can't supply and so beats faster. All the time the heart is dying.

That is wot appens to a fit person; but if you have heart disease or any cardiovascular problems such as stenosis the risk is increased exponentially, except I got some blood thinning drug to use in emergency that might help.

So Jim Fixx was just running too hard and started to feel unwell so he probably made it worse by having sex or panic smiley - dontpanic

Generally it is know good to panic if you are the only person in a aircraft spinning to ground without a parachute.

smiley - dontpanic Is a general principle.
