Well I recall sitting in our living room with my mother when Joe Cocker apeared on some variety show or other. Possible the Smothers Brothers. After watching him gyrate and contort while performing "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" for awhile my mother turned to me and said. "He's making fun of handicapped people. Isn't he?"
She just didn't "get" it.
John Belushi "got" it. His duet with Joe on Saturday Night Live was so spot on it was at times difficult to tell which was the real Joe.
Happy Birthday Joe!! Mad Dogs and Englishmen!!

harry!!
howsitgoing?
i used to go to the black swan in Sheffield every friday night to see joe cocker and the grease band er perform. The sort of pub where gas fitters (joe worked days for the gas board)turners, fettlers, ingot-slingers and humble electricians such as myself would hang out, get drunk, into fights, and somehow home again.
he was just the same then but worse and quite often better.

Joe Cocker and the Grease Band as the house band at the local!
There is one advantage to being "of a certain age" and that is that we had the opportunity to see live on stage musicians and bands that are now legends. I was running through in my mind one day a list of the concerts I have been to and it was my good fortune to see some of the greatest musicians of the rock world live. And at an affordable price too. I remember a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young concert where the back up band was a group just starting out, The Eagles.

Some years ago there was a Joe-Cocker-concert in South Germany and we thought about going there because "who knows if this is going to be his last tour"...
