In America, on the other hand, There are two main states known for citris fruit: California and Florida. While other places are far enough south, like Mexico or Texas, or Jamaica, they yield far smaller yields than these two states.

That's good to know,Pierce. When I was little, it was a tradition to give baskets of citrus fruit at Christmas time. That fruit was fresh, and it had to come from somewhere, such as California or Florida.

Today marks the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Denmark (and other nations) after the German occupation during WWII. It would take a few years more before oranges and other exotic fruits were available in Danish shops. A famous song from that time was called "When a boat with bananas will arrive" smiley - geek

That tune is very familiar, I am almost certain it was used as the theme for a cartoon or comedy show here.

Thank you, I'm glad you let us listen. It is difficult for us to imagine the horrors of occupation.

In "My life as a dog" [which was set in Sweden, I think], there was a character who was fond of listening to "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts."

I think that our beloved captain got a new pair of shoes that can walk on water. He's out somewhere walking across the ocean. smiley - smiley

When you and I are behind the veil are past,
Ah, but the long long time the world shall last,
Which of our coming and departure heeds
As much as the ocean of a pebble cast.
