Personally I'd prefer the "thing" badge if "thing came up from below rather than from the right. Is that possible?

Got it. This one has "Thing" come up from underneath, and at the same time the s come in from the sides. The s, and "Thing" all collide on the "Thursd*y" at the same time, and once the s are gone, all that's left is "Thing":
