Hello George. 
I'm pleased to be the first to welcome you to the Thingites. 
I see that you're new to h2g2, so perhaps you could tell us a little about yourself on your personal space ... anything at all. You could simply type in, "Hello, I'm George!", and that would be enough to allow someone to begin a conversation with you. Go ahead! Try it ... it's easy. 
By the way, if you do this, be prepared for a nice little visit from an Ace who will welcome you and help you to become familiar with the place.
While you're at it, you could pick a fancy schmantsy name for yourself, rather than keeping the designation "Researcher 238191". Simply click on the button on the left of your page marked "Preferences" and change your name to whatever strikes your fancy.
Now, as to Thingite business ... I am the official "Thingite Athletics Supporter", and as such, I haven't the authority to gabble you into our happy throng. Nonetheless, you can rest assured, Clive the Flying Ostrich, Amy the High Priestess, or one of our top-ranked Royals will be along shortly to make it all official. 
Incredibly exciting, isn't it? Don't forget to request your official-issue titanium spork.
Feel free to think up a title for yourself ... it will be added along with your chosen name to the Thingite Roster -- the more awe-inspiring and ridiculous your title is, the better.
