Friday again, (18 Jan 02), and I found a very tasty porter to entertain me - Black Zac. Dark roasted, it is hoppy and bitter with a smooth finish. 4.5% alcohol according to the blackboard. Mmmmm!
Phoenix brewery in Heywood, Lancashire is fairly local to me. I often come across their products and they are pretty reliable.
Phoenix Snowboard (I think it was called that, it was definitely Snow-something, but I was taking my research seriously and had more than one after already researching the porter in detail ) it was advertised at 4.0% and had a light, perfumed, flowery flavour - distinctive and very pleasant.

This is rapddly becoming an ale-encompassing reference. I wonder how we could make it part of the edited guide? Or if we should even care?

I think that beer probably deserves a place in the Edited Guide. I suppose the main page could be rewritten in such a way as to make it suitable as an entry in itself, then all the conversations could live attached to it much as they do now. As it stands now I don't think it would get in - it's inviting views rather than informing. Or maybe it would - I'm not a guru or a scout or anything - there may be another way to get this sort of entry in. I just like the beer!
Whether we should care I don't know - does it need to be in the Edited Guide? It's in the Guide already. It might be more effective to set up some sort of badge-type thingie that we can all put on our home pages and link to the main page - you know the sort of thing, like the Classic Goo Club. Some clever type who's good at Guide ML should be able to devise a linkable picture of a pint (not me - I think I'm really clever when I use smilies ). Or just call it a club - h2g2ers are great joiners, I've found.
Either way, I can't stay to talk about it tonight - we're off to Yorkshire to see friends, eat curry - and do some research for the Beer Review!

There are some beer pictures available and turning them into links isn't difficult (I can do it, often on only the third attempt). If you wanted a unique badge, I don't know how you'd go about that.
On the subject of Wentworth beers, I rather like Rampant Gryphon, a pale beer that weighs in at around 6%, as I recall. There was a weaker one that wasn't bad too, but I forget its name.

Ooh, 6% - that's falling down juice for me. I'm not surprised you forgot the weaker one! I shall have to keep an eye out for it.
I think I might have a go at doing a picture with a link on it - I'll have a look around for a picture with a link and pirate the Guide ML.

Aha Bagpuss, you were right - it was a piece of cake. I just had a look at a user space that I thought might have a linkable pcture (well, it was yours actually -hope you don't mind) and did the testuserpage thing to see what the code was.
I've stuck a linkable beer picture on my user space - what do you think Just zis Guy - it might help spread the word.

'Course I don't mind - how do you think the stuff got on my page in the first place?
