some bloke who tried to think of a short, catchy, pithy name and spent five sleepless nights trying but couldn't think of one Posted Aug 29, 2001
He might be able to do a good accent, but I think he would look a little too... cleancut for Arthur. I think he could pull off Ford, though.

Keanu as Ford??? Keanu as anyone in the film??!!!! You MUST be kidding, he didn't get his nickname 'The Tree' for nothing, you know! He could be Hotblack Desiato though, that role should be challenging enough for him.

Keanu could, possibly, carry the Towel Part.....
But How about Stephen Fry as Slarty?

fords - number 1 all over heaven Posted Aug 29, 2001
He would do quite well as Slarty, but even better, Stephen has just the right sort of 'Peter Jones-y' voice for the book.
I think Keanu is too good to be a Towel, he could play the petunias quite well though....

He could have a bit part with the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal - as a victim.... ::Gleefully rubs hands::

Or strap him to a chair as Ford's stand-in for some Vogon poetry, get some culture into the lad...muahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

Hmmmmm, let's see...
My cast would be...
Arthur Dent - Hugh Laurie or Colin Firth
Ford Prefect - Tommy Tiernan
Zaphod Beeblebrox - well, there's no other Zaphod than Mark Wing-Davey, but if I really had to choose...
- Jude Law (I know I'll get lynched for this)
Trillian - Emilia Fox or Anna Friel
Slartibartfast - Simon Callow
The Book - Michael Palin
The Newsreader(s) on the Sub-Etha Waveband - the guys who present CNN World Sport because they are too funny for their own good

Oh, and...
Marvin - Alan Bennett
...as well as possibly sticking Huw Edwards in for reading the News on the Sub-Etha Waveband...
That's my cast... virtually British as well!

No, No, No, No, No, No, Yes - sounds reasonable...
Except for Trillian - Katherine Zeta Jones-Douglas has already got the part....... (well in my book....)

I'm gonna have another go at my cast.....
The book - Patrick Stewart
Arthur - Hugh Laurie or John Cleese
Ford - what about Michael Palin?
Slarty - Simon Callow, great idea!
Trillian - Leslie Ash...I dunno!
Zaphod - you really can't re-cast Zaphod, but I would love to see Huey from the Fun Lovin Criminals, he is the king of cool...
Marvin - anyone for the costume, but for the voice? Who's got a depressing voice?
Eddie - Eric Idle, of course!
As for the newscaster, Huw Edwards would be great - he's got a cool sense of humour too

I'll have another go...
The Book - David Attenborough or Prof. Robert Winston
Arthur Dent - Hugh Laurie
Ford Prefect - Tommy Tiernan
Zaphod Beeblebrox - Ewan McGregor
Trillian - any British actress who looks and sounds intelligent
Slartibartfast - Simon Callow
Marvin - Jack Dee
Eddie - Jerry Springer and Graham Norton (the reasoning - anyone with a sufficiently annoying voice. ie those two)
Newscaster(s) - the guys off CNN World Sport and Huw Edwards
What do you think?

Right, lets be serious now...
The Book - Helen (from Big Brother) - radical choice!
Arthur Dent - Paul (from Big Brother) - suitably dim
Ford Prefect - Bubble (from Big Brother) - fun loveing and lively
Zaphod Beeblebrox - Stuart (from Big Brother) - smarmy
Trillian - Elizabeth (from Big Brother) - reasonably intelligent
Slartibartfast - Nasty Nick (from Big Brother) - dark and mysterious
Marvin - Josh (from Big Brother) - very depressing
Eddie - Brian (from Big Brother) - is he annoying enough for you!
I dont think we can better that can we?

Jack Dee as Marvin? Fantastic choice! Oh my god, Graham Norton would be IDEAL as the MC in the restaurant too!

Leslie Ash as Trill????
Not unless she dyed her hair Black!
Its only on the Telly that Trill was a Bubbly Blonde.... In t' books and Radio she was Dark Haired - I suggest either KZJ or E G Mel for the part!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that; she could dye her hair dark, but yeah, I think she'd make a good Trillian (lynch me if you like!) but Catherine Zeta Jones??? Eek!

What's wrong with her?

Do you suggest her because of her talent, or because you fancy her?
Personally, I just couldn't see her as Trillian, Catherine doesn't really seem to have much get-up-and-go when she's acting.

Hmmm - I do see whay you mean - she doesn't come across as Bubbly - but then did Trill in the Bird seed ads.... Sorry mind wend adrift there...
Erm..
Did Trill in the Radio series - I always thought she came across as quite serious.... (as opposed to the inspired idiocy of the rest of the crew)...

Hmmmm.... Might as well have Pammy playing Trill (or maybe Jordan)....
But for Bubbly don't think you could beat Jane "little voice" "bubbles" Horrocks!!
