Substitute "selfish" for "evil" and you're probably not too wide of the mark.

Yes Nog
"selfish"
but is it nature or nurture?

without wanting to be accused of sitting on the fence, it must be both. some circumstances make people more likely to grow up criminals or violent or abusers, but they don't make it inevitable

Ragged Dragon Posted Dec 7, 2003
The yurt is unloaded - omigods, a long story in itself, it can wait until we next meet, though - I need alcohol to tell it efficiently ...
No, it can't go up in the house - yes, I know I have quite a big house, but none of my rooms are 14 foot across and have room for a yurt...
I may have to move to somewhere with a larger garden...
BTW - J came to stay last night and met two of my ancestors - one of whom tried to tell her how to run her life
Another long story, eh?
For the sake of the rest of you, I have what would would probably be called a 'haunted' house - or maybe I'm the one who is haunted - but the people in it are my people, and welcome.
It's a heathen/witch thing.
Don't worry about it
But it changes your perspective on the afterlife - I know what is going to happen, and I cannot be worried about it

Hi leo, and welcome.
I don't think it's "sitting on the fence". I think it's just a balanced assessment.

Oh right.
Well, I open myself up to correction but:
A massive tent. Big. 14ft across, something like that. And no artificial fabric and plastic canes either. Solid wooden structure, and enough fabric (I'm not sure exactly what it is, felt I think?) to stop a bullet. Circular, and you can easily stand up in one.

They make those in Gatehead, Tyne and Wear near me.
Always plenty of orders very popular I think.
I like 'em.
Not sure about a bullet but certainly strong.

Humorous over- exaggeration. With the bullet, that is.

"HS you have a point of view based on experience."
No, OO - I have a point of view reinforced by experience. If you are attempting to argue ad hominem, I don't think you have a case. Neither do I understand the point you are trying to make here.
"I must be reading, or perhaps not reading, Justin's posts
in a different interpretation than yours. So if you follow that argument then religious doctrine or declared belief becomes control."
No, I don't. I do hold a point of view - put briefly - that fundamentalism in religion stems from the same root insecurity which underpins the behaviour of borderline personalities (which is not to say that all fundamentalists have BPD). But this does not appear to be what you think I am saying and, anyway, I have not stated this so far in this discussion.
"Then.... following on control could be seen as evil. Never had that take on things before."
False conclusion arising from a false argument.

"Circular, and you can easily stand up in one."
Stand up when you're six and a half feet tall, have a double bed, various pieces of furniture and carpets, and entertain up to about half a dozen friends comfortably. I know this yurt's previous owner and have sat drinking strong coffee in this yurt (there aren't that many yurts in the UK).

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque Posted Dec 8, 2003
Since entire Mongolian families live in them that would make sense.
