I have only had one experience of the yurt kind but it made me anxious for more.
Can you imagine the expressions if you turned up at a campsite with one...

Hope those are flame resistant PJs if your cookinh with a naked flame az.
Yes yurts are cool, but even if they are made from manmade materials the proximity of other people and the general sharing of food etc... that goes on inside them is a very enriching experience for people who spend their time in normal western buildings and behaviour patterns.
I think humans are overwhemingly concerned with control, unfortunately too many of us focus on control of our worlds without thinking about self control.
Abusers of others from kings to vicious children all lash out in anger and frustration. A child will act with violence if they can not get their own way or simply get the peg through the hole. We can grow up and be shown that patience and self control will bring better results in the long term unfortunately many people grow up seeing violence as a tool that is the first solution tried in a difficult situation. I do think we have the capacity to distinguih between movies and reality but the number of people who learn about the quick fix method for difficult situations through violence at home whilst growing up is enormous. Hence we see this spilling into society as a whole.
In life most of us get to see both and learn that in the long run self control is better than demanding and forcing the world to our control, but many are so traumatised that they have an overwhelming prediliction to violence as a tool for conflict resolution.
I do indeed think there "is" no evil in the world, although there are acts I would consider bad because of the negative impact they have on peoples lives. If we call anything or anyone "evil" we are making a big mistake because as Math said we are ignoring the ordinariness of the act within the perpetrators mind and missing out the "WHY" factor. This does not include acts where peope are acting unlawfully for simple financial or such gains, that is merely greed and theft, fraud etc... Although that in its own way shows a certain lack of empathy and concern for others.

hi blicky!
Sadly I had to get out of pj's and shower and prepare myself for one student who said he wanted a class at midday, although it was a holiday. Then he called me half an hour beforehand to say he couldn't make it.
But at least now I am clean and dressed and my hair is washed!
Absolutely. People should practice more self control and not turn their inability to do so into a social problem.
The 'why' factor is a huge one. But it is never an excuse. At best it is only ever an explanation, if it can be understood.
Unless one is so seriously mentally ill that they cannot determine the results of their actions then I say that everyone is repsonsible for what they do.
For every action there is a reaction.

Yeah thats what I mean about "evil" if you understand or atleast make an effort to you can see where you or others are going awry in the way that you or they do things. Its not enough to say these are the rules as I see them or as handed to us by the bigG as these will often clash (needlessly) with what others see as right and wrong.
I am well aware that htis may come across as "tree-hugging nonsense"
But here goes. It is not too hard to have respect for others and recognise your similarities with them whilst still being able to retain your identity.
Too often people are taught to focus on the differences and fight for an US against THEM.

As long as there is enough beer in the trailer with the yurt, there are always going to be people to help put it up and take it down.
I will never be taking it to somewhere where I do not have friends to join me in the building and the enjoyment. And it sleeps at least six...

Well HS, since I did not follow the message inherent in your last post then we must, surely, both agree that we obviously were not in communicado in the first.
never was that keen on academic wizardry. Rock On Oetzi!

Too right. Culture of fear.

>>Many people grow up harbouring a massive anger inside them, which they are not entirely able to control. If they are sufficiently resiliant, they learn to channel or disperse this anger; if not, they express it, when under stress, in violence or cruelty of some form. <<
That is scarily true - an even scarier thing is to see (bits of it) in me! I suppose I must be one of the resilient, for which I credit God.

I do. I thrash my drum kit around, write sarcastic (undirected, largely) things, and suchlike.

While I'm on....does any one know what "ad hominem" means?
HS has lost me here.
Request help with a "ready phrase" please.

Thanks to both of you.
I'm lucky to find the toilet Az never mind a dictionary.
But that link from Jez about the classical stuff is invaluable.
I'm only a few months into this IT/webcasting stuff.
OK I may be lazy and naive and on medication and an alcoholic but there will be others reading this just the same. Folks who read stuff they don't understand, folks who are scared of being rebuffed because some people are like that...
You know Az I believe in sharing stuff..but a heck of a lot do not.
