A few notes
Hi I'm a physician but not working currently. At the moment researching alternative medicine for an article to submit to a medical newpaper.
I'm a Christian of sorts - not the holier than thou type at all. I believe that as a society we have lost our way a bit.
I love cats. We have two cats-sadly one has just had to be put down.
I like fantasy roleplaying games and wargames but I'm not currently in a group.
Other interests:Keeping fish
Gardening
Cricket
Manchester City FC
How would I describe myself? A firm sense of duty, look out for the underdog, have high standards for myself, kind to animals (and sometimes people!) and I hate any sort of bullying. On the downside sometimes curmudgeonly (see below), as don't suffer fools gladly, can be a bit obsessional, and get easily annoyed by people talking CR*P! (esp about the NHS/medical profession).
I read the Guardian or Independent, look after the house at the moment and try to keep my brain active.
LIKES:
Brittas Empire, The Detectives, anything by Steve Coogan, detective dramas,*House*Crime noir (James Lee Burke, Elmore Leonard, James Ellroy, Ian Rankin), history esp Elizabethan
Terry Pratchett(doesn't everyone?)
Victor Meldrew (I'm told I resemble him - not physically thank God!)
Manners (consideration for others)
HATES:
Pseudoscience esp alternative medicine (as opposed to complementary medicine) and its acolytesDaytime TV, most reality TV, "feel good" dramas, medical soaps
"Multiculturalism" (as opposed to multiethnicity)
Etiquette (obscure codes for the snobby)
The necrotic carbuncles on the back of humanity known respectively as lawyers and journalists
Compensation culture
The chattering classes
For future reference I expressly refuse permission/blessing for anyone to plagiarise/rescue/take over anything I've contributed/written!
