Why do/es God(s), make things difficult, by simultaneously encouraging and discouraging being reserved Vs. PDAs at the same time.
*Mind boggling,- is how I'd found that.*
Instead of being simple,- say a dualism, some things are just _way more complex,- perhaps these might be better described as "pluralisms"?

& in any event, The professor has got to be,_ like some sort of demon, or something , to not let any of us talk during lecture; now how am I going to get to hear what it was that was on her mind?
Let's see:
a.) I'm not "supposed to" e-mail her, to ask.
&
b.) The whole of next week is what students at the Uni I go to get off, for "Spring Break."
/, evil-evil Prof. _(insert last name letter here),- what a strangely bizarre, if not also albeit spiteful and quick talking old lady.

It all sounds very public and dramatic. Perhaps you should take a moment of internal detachment to appreciate the ridiculous in the situation?

She can't blame you for not knowing what's going on inside her head, and making a public spectacle of you both, doesn't do her any favours! I think she has issues - maybe she's not the best choice of girl?
You need to talk to her, but obviously the classroom is the wrong place! Ask her to have coffee with you - or a milkshake! (You're in the USA, right, and it's just turned into spring?) Tell her firmly that you're not taking any sh*t and public embarassment from her, that you can relate to the hate/love * thing, cos that's what she's doing to your head...
Obviously, you're important to her.
*There's a slogan for that... it's my Gmail signature - 'Odi et Amo - Excrucior!'

Don't you wish, Thorn, that you have secretly videotaped your last few conversations with her, so you could be sure if she *did* sort of wink?
Uase your mobile! (Cell phone). There's a guy I have been doing head miles about, I see him twice a week, and I made up my mind not to email, as he never answered and it just made me feel bad - but one day I sent a text message - not breaking the no email rule - he always answers texts (cos it's hard to ignore!) and I learned on the +ve side that the email non-answers were just what he always said they were - not being nasty at all, but just thoughtlessness. If she has a cell phone and you know her number, text her. Say you need to talk to her outside class and before or during Spring Break. In the meantime, if you want to discuss this girl on my space, so as to not block this thread, feel free!

She has my number, but has only attempted to e-mail it twice.
Never volunteered giving her number to me,... this she has not. Her folks call her on the phone a whole lot too, and she has to swap back and forth from English to the language that they'd rather speak in (I've actually been there w/her when that is ocurring) about twice. One time we took the train home together. Sort of "home" at least, since we happen to live close enough that it's the same stop. I know where she does volunteer work at too. It's close to where I live. This-is-stupid. /.

In conclusion, God(s) or not-Thread people (& thank you for not exploding ,- this set of experiences and observations has led me to the opinion that if there are one or more deities in charge of stuff out there, maybe they do_not_like adolescent males (such as myself), much. + Can't say I don't blame them.

No one likes adolescent males! No seriously, I wanted to swing for my son this morning when he marched off to get the train after coming home from a party with the 'Trondheim girls' where he had a bad experience with the girl who's driving him ananabs! He was so bitter and twisted that he didn't say 'goodbye, I'm off to Uni, see you tonight'... Charming behaviour!
To be honest, there have been times I thought God wasn't too thrilled with middle-aged women, but that's just my perception... Free will and all that.

Perhaps then, it is the fault of people, in general.
One ought to remember (yep, there he is again C.S. Lewis, maybe), "Perhaps they should have stopped, at the end of the sixth day."

Yes, Sartre said 'Hell is other people'. I happen to think they're a large part of Heaven too...
Other people just keep on stubbornly being themselves, and it helps to remember that inside their heads, they're probably as insecure and worried about *their* bad breath, bad teeth etc as you might be...
Ah, we'll know the answers one day, sooner for me than for you of course.

Yeah, not encouraging, is it, to think we have to wait to know? But we can know some things, and an important thing is being honest... to yourself and others..

Yes, which means it is ripe for closing!
I think that is a little hint to whomever it may concern that if you do want to talk about 'stuff' not related to the title of the thread create a new thread or use your personal space.
Ta!

To get back to the thread;
In the 4th century St. Helena, the mother of Constantine, convinced him to make Christianity an official state religion. At the time Constantine was a Mithraist and remained so until he was on his death bed. She was the first Christian pilgrim and at the age of 70 , she traveled to the Holy Land to “discover” a number of important sites: She found the spot where Christ's cross was buried, the location of his tomb, and the path he walked through Jerusalem on the way to crucifixion. She found three crosses but was able to identify the “true cross” by healing a woman who touched it. It is said that she used torture to ease the tongues of the Jews who she thought could tell her where the sites were.

Thorn Posted Mar 24, 2006
, what are 'mithraists'?
also, I was reading this thing in an anthology, and it said that a number of founding fathers in the US practised a form of something called deism, and I have no idea what that is, either.
