Well, I found the laundry but there was a sign on the front which said that I had to leave the room as I found it, so just as I found it I had to leave.
Then I was going to wash it in the stream, but the alligators kept trying to bite my arms off. 
So I brought it back here.
I have failed you. 
I should die.

but before you go off and do anything rash, let me give you the opportunity to redeem yourself. the laundry elf is in desperate need of socks. i need you to go and find the butler's socks and give them to the elf before she comes looking for *my* socks! (our good butler has hidden his socks to protect them from just such an occurrence). succeed in feeding the laundry elf, and we'll spare your life.

M'lady, the butler has resisted my efforts to learn of the wearabouts of his hidden stash of socks. I fear that if I try to do your laundry without feeding Thruthelthrolth's socks to Mistdancer the Royal Laundry 
first then she will devour your hosiery instead. Maybe you could get the butler to reveal his hiding place to you?

I'm sorry my princess but the King has ordered me to release the butler and return him to the exact place where I abducted him from. And as punishment for my deplorable treatment of him I am also to act as Lackey to the Royal Butler for an unspecified period of time.
But at least I got two of his socks to feed to the . I nicked the pair he was wearing off his feet whilst he was unconscious.
